Which drag radial is the best? Which has the softest compound? BF goodrich, nitto khumo? Which seems to give the best 60' time? I am not interested in the 16" et slicks due to the fact that I drive the car to the track and do not want to change tires.

Hello,

I have tried both Nitto and BFG and here are my thoughts and opinions on each of them.

BFG Drag Radials- Fit well on the stock 17" x 13" rear wheels and get ok traction on the street as compared to pilots. The compound is soft but the tread depth is shallow. Expect about 3500-4000 miles out of them. I have been caught in the rain with them and due to their reduced tread depth and design, they are not for the faint hearted.

Nitto 555 R Drag Radials - Will not properly fit stock 17" x 13" rear wheels because of the tire bead design. I had to buy a spare pair of front wheels for correct mounting. Other than that minor problem they are incredible! Tread depth is deeper than BFG's which makes them handle in rainy weather much better. Their compound is soft and i have personally netted 1.60's 60 foot times with them, but under normal driving at normal pressure they drive like stock pilots and the car handles very well.

My favorite is the Nitto, but I have netted 10 second elapsed times from both tires. I leave the nittos, rather than stock pilots, mounted on the car most of the time. I can only suggest that folks choose a drag radial based upon their mission profile.

Has anyone logged any 1/4 mile runs on the $65 Club Slicks? What's the verdict?

I ran some that were 2 years old (and used - about 7 heat cycles) last weekend with Hoosiers up front on a road course. They still stuck amazingly well - far better than some 335 Hoosiers that were only about 6 months older. The Hoosiers slid like crazy and were absolute junk!

Another well-driven Viper with suspension & exhaust mods (but running Pilot Sports) was 6 seconds back. Obviously, the "crappy" Michelins were still an asset.
