First of all, I LOVE this new machine!

Here's the observation, and I'm wondering if others have experienced this.
2nd, 3rd,and 4th gear at "coasting" speeds, semi-gentle quick stabs at the go pedal are producing HUGE amounts of backlash sounding driveshaft and differential noise much like used up GM muscle cars or a 12 year old 928S4.
Any comments?

I also hear this... After being under the car, the crossover pipes are right under our seats, I made myself fell better that all this nound is simple exhaust noise.

I get clicks, burbles, all kind of funny noises.

Yea, I've noticed the exhaust noises, and they don't bother me in the least.
What i,m talking about is in the drive line between the tail shaft and the axles.
I'm wondering if someone with more component knowledge than me can tell me if this is characteristic of the new style rear end or CV setup, or might there be an issue here?
Out of several hundred cars so far is mine the only one that makes this noise?

PS Everything sounds perfectly normal under load.

If I am hearing what you are describing my car also makes those noises. I have not been concerned because both my 94 and 2001 make very similar noises.

JCT,

Is your SRT significantly MORE noisy than your GTS in this respect? I would expect it to have similar backlash noises, but not be significantly worse.

I have'nt driven the coupe in awhile. I'll check it out this weekend weather permitting, but from memory, the SRT noise seems "more significant".
Now, I've gotta say, this is a non issue with my normal driving methods, and I discovered it by accident the other night while out doing break in miles, and basicly, I have to "make" it do this, but it is damm noisey when its going on.
Maybe its the improved lower RPM availably of torque, or the new rear end, or a combo of those and other things, I dont know, it just sounds like a car with 3 or 4 years of track time.
I'm just trying to learn more about this wonderful beast since it's virtually a whole new car.
