Driver\'s door won\'t open....

I was dropping one of my daughters of at school this morning and had to get out and open the trunk. I shut the car off and used the FOB to open the trunk. So far so good. Try to open the drivers door and nothing happens, press the unlock on the FOB and still nothing. Tried locking and unlocking, still nothing. Top is up but luckily the window is down, I reached inside and the interior latch opened the door.

Got home and still have the same problem. Passenger door works fine.

Anyone have any ideas? I may try unhooking the battery for a few hours and see if it resets...

As a backup, your Viper has a key slot to open the drivers side door. It is located under the door overhang, just below, and in front of your mirror.
You must get down and look up under the accent line on your door to locate this "secret" keyhole.
It takes more than usual force to turn the key, but this should get you inside and on your way in a jiffy.

I think (unlike the previous Vipers) that the inner handle is cable operated, and the outer is just a microswitch. Could be a bad switch, bad wire, or dead servo on the striker. Good luck, and let's hope this is isolated. What Paul said above about the secret keyhole.

Thanks for the info on the key slot, did not know it was there.

At least I won't have to be crawling across the passenger seat to unlock the door.

SteveT,

It may be a longshot but I have come across something that may be of interest to you. When I had the software "flash" done to my SRT(light flickering problem)I found out that the flash also upgrades the door release to a higher level of sensitivity. My doors now open much easier(from the outside). May not help you...but it may be something you might want to check into.

SteveT...

Call Huffines Dodge(Plano-Lewisville)or Dallas Dodge and see if they are still setting up appointments to do the flash fix for the lights. Maybe they can help. If not, PM me.

AAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

I tried the door this morning and it still would not open.

Got home this afternoon and was talking to a friend about the door and walked over to it and it opened right up. Tried it about 30 times, worked every time.
So now I have an intermittent problem that the dealer will never be able to find. Oh well, at least I found out about the "secret" key hole.
