OK, finally dyno'ed the car this morning. The best run yielded 524 horsepower at 5400 rpm and 568 ft-lb of torque at 3500 to 4000 rpm both measured at the wheel. With a 15% driveline loss, that's almost 620 horse. The air/fuel ratio was a rich 12.0:1 at peak horsepower so there's plenty of room for more tuning. The complete results are post on http://telperion.com/sale.

600 huh? That'd be 700 adjusted at the crank. That seems a little high, but I like you vote of confidence.

It does seem a little low for 8lbs. What was your timing?

Also, the 12.0 is good. I don't think you want it any leaner at wide open throttle.

What he said. 12.0 is not rich on a blown motor. It's closer to the upper limit of safe, and you do not want it higher at WOT. And your numbers do seem very low to me. My '01 with headers, exhaust, rockers, and t/b's made 560 rwhp and 590 rwtq with the basic 5 lb pulley, and those numbers are certainly not the highest ones I've seen for similar setups. You should be at or above 600 rwhp at 8 psi. Maybe it has something to do with the dyno; I've never heard of a DYNOmite dyno.

Yup, needs tuning. Remember two things though, this motor has just over 1,000 gentle miles on it and it's compression ratio was lowered to 9:1.

Welcome back Lou! (unless I've been out've the loop  ) So you're keeping the sapphire GTS then? If you are you should reconsider your sig file.

The power seems very low for an 8 psi kit, but the lower compresion may have something to do with that.

Air/fuel on a forced induction car running pump gas should be in the mid 11's to high 10's, unless you want to hurt your motor with a bad batch of gas.

Jay, thanks, but I am selling it. My wife and I are working on moving out west and the car is one of the things we are "shedding". We have horses (the real kind) and other things which are taking priority over the Viper.

Russ,

Sean told me to shoot for a flat 12 a/f on my car. I do run 93 octane, don't know if that makes a difference or not.

Octane is definatly a big part of it and 93 is much better than the 91 crap out here. That being said I would still not tune my forced induction car to anything leaner than 11.5 to 1. It just not worth it, you will not see any power gain, and just put more stress on internals.

With a plugged cat on the passenger side (not known at the time) my first pull netted about 610RWTQ. I don't have those charts at this time...but we tuned it to 580RWHP and 590RWTQ. This was with the plugged cat, 8# pulley, water/****, roller rockers. I agree that the 8# setup should net closer to the 600 mark...and had my cat not been plugged I think we would have seen that. Now...I have re-worked the water/**** nozzles, and added the 10# pulley. :) My wife is in the process of settling in at the Naval Academy...but here directly I'll get it back on the dyno and hope for mid-600. Hey...I ccan HOPE...can't I?!?!?! :)

Lou...I am actually all over the place. :) My wife just reported to Annapolis, and (as a matter of fact), just made an offer on a house in Arnold, MD. There goes my second Viper. :(

Just kidding about the :( .....she has always been better with the $$$ than me, and if the missus wants another house....well, she gets another house. :) She's on her way down as I type, for the weekend...then I'll be heading up there next weekend.

Are you running the water/**** at all? How about fuel...do you have the MSD Voltage booster? OK...so I went to the site and read up on the car. :) Oh, and I fixed the link to the site above...there was an errant . in there for some reason. :) Our setups are not far off from each other....though I do not have headers, I do have 1.7 RR. Do you have the cats with the ceramic substrates?

You should be able to get 600 rwhp on a 8lb forged motor.

I agree!!!! When I had the Roe on my car, which was a creampuff, 5 lb setup, headers, exhaust, hiflow cats, airbox, and TB's it made over 580's rwhp with 596 rwtq. The car only had 1500 miles and was barely broke in. Also it was very hot outside mid 90's. Those numbers seem very low to me if you've got a forged motor running 8 lbs.
