Hi all, been a while since I've posted :nono:

Can anyone please enlighten me as to the routing of the e-brake cables, from where they come out the trans tunnel and route around the diff...do they pass between the front diff mounts, do they go over or under? Do they go around the rear frame rails?

Thanks for any help,,, got my first one I'm working on and no workshop manual for reference (cabels removed!)!

Best wishes.

Hi Nadine,

The cable runs out the tunnel, hugs the frame up high. This image is looking up from the ground and was intended to show a fuel line valve, but you can see the brake cable attached to the frame with the rusty clips. The thing on the left is the inner u-joint. The tube near the top is part of the Gen 1 ladder bar on the nose of the diff. The differential webbing is in the upper left. The cables go over the half shafts, but end up pointing forward again since they enter the brake caliper from above. They loop back and pass the upright on the outboard side. There is another clip to hold them against the upper frame rail, just forward of where the "X" frame ties the left and right side frame rails together. On a Gen 1, there is a convenient slot in the upper part of the suspension upright for the cable to lay in. On a Gen 2 I think it is just tie-wrapped to the upper part of the upright, just below the upper ball joint.

The service manual and parts manual don't have a helpful image.

Thanks Tom.

It's an SRT10 park brake system that I'm working on, but I guess like the Gen I and II's then, they route the cabels high? I'm sure you've studied the brakes...SRT park brake calipers interestingly are Brembo single 36mm piston, but with cute little pads, and the caliper has a wheel type guide for the cable that enters from the side.

If I run the cabels in under the diff and above the drive shafts they seem too long, but don't seem long enough to route over the diff and around the end of the frame, beyond the A-arm mounts, which I've tried! I was just wondering by slim chance, if they did anything wierd, like cross over to the other side (like the exhaust!)?
