Easy way to lower the seat height in a GenV (with pictures)

Duplicate post, but without the links, this will illustrate what you can do to add about 1" of headroom in your new GenV if it is equipped with the power seats.

There are two "posts" with plastic bumpers that limit the downward travel that are attached to the rear of each seat track. You can see them the silver hex nuts in the pictures. They are hard to get behind the seat to see, but you can easily feel them if you follow up each track. They are barely threaded onto the stud that holds them so just a quick turn of the wrench your will be riding low

I opened the door of the LE at my local dealership and man did the driver's seat look low to begin with. I didn't sit in it but it looked like had I done so I'd be sitting really close to the ground as it was already.

They are there to limit travel, it could be a line of sight thing or a seatbelt thing for shorter people? If in fact that is what it is for a tall driver taking them out to gain some helmet room should be fine in doing so. If you don't need the room don't mess with it I guess.

Yeah, all those things are in the back now with the battery under an EASY access panel.

Thanks. That great to hear. At 6'2" a 1" lowering kit for the drivers seat was always the first thing I'd have to buy for a new Viper.

Since they are almost impossible to see and need to be removed by feel...can you advise the wrench size? so I dont have to figure it out by trial and error... Thanks..... Plus..removing the "posts saves weight too instead of adding a lowering kit that adds weight... I'm going to try it on my LE and will advise the results as I am approx 6'4"

Honestly I can't remember now LOL, I believe it was a 14mm. They will pop loose with a crescent if you have that, there is little to no real tension there.

Thanks...the crescent worked and your right the posts were not that tight..those that don't want to mess with the adjusting of a crescent wrench... A 13MM open end wrench is the key!!!
Just remember to move the seat all the way forward, the back of the seat all the way forward, and last but not least the bottom all the way up... Best part is ...its all done with power .
Finally power seats in a Viper!!

Thanks...the crescent worked and your right the posts were not that tight..those that don't want to mess with the adjusting of a crescent wrench... A 13MM open end wrench is the key!!!
Just remember to move the seat all the way forward, the back of the seat all the way forward, and last but not least the bottom all the way up... Best part is ...its all done with power .
