I am going to be buying a new 2006 srt convertible. regardless of where i buy it, it will be far, 1,000 miles plus, from where i live. i want to drive it back for a road trip but I am concerned about break-in. should i not exceed certain speeds, rpm, start & stop, etc.

I would follow the guide lines in the manual, it sounds like a great way to break in a new car. Vary speed, nothing above 4000 rpm, no full throttle acceleration for the 1st 500 miles.

I drove a new one home about 500 miles a couple months ago - you can drive in 5th and 6th at the same highway speeds thus varying the RPMs. Hold off on the burnouts for a while and generally take it easy.

On the otherhand, some argue you should break it in the way you intend to drive it; however, I think it best to take my advice. I've had countless new cars over the years and never had noticeable oil burning, etc. so better safe than sorry.
