Has anyone tried the thermo tec insulating wrap around the exhaust pipes? I Just ordered some in an effort to determine if it reduces exhaust pipe temperature around the side sills. This graphite material is designed for exhaust headers to withstand 2000 F. It's worth a try!

I've noticed that the Corsa Track system lowers sill temps some and also reduces in-cabin heat. Choices, choices...

Most of the heat generated from the exhaust, is coming from the primary cat, and to a lesser degree, the secondary cat, not the exhaust pipe, and I don't think it would be a good idea to wrap the cats. Removing the sec. cat, really helps a good bit. There are many things you can do to reduce this heat. I have a file on different ways to do this, but at the moment I'm out of town, and do not have access to this info.

I have used thermo tec stuff.

After I put in my headers, I noticed that I was melting some of the wiring running near the headers. I also noticed that the headers were very close to my clutch line.

I used header wrap to wrap the portion of the headers closest to the affected wires and lines, and wrapped the wires and lines with aluminized heat resistant tape.

I also put an aluminized cloth sleeve on one of the coolant hoses that runs near the headers.

Call Sean Roe, he's finalized a kit but I don't know if it's for a SRT.

I wouldn't wrap parts of this. Heat needs a place to go and if you wrap the cat, you'll probably melt it. If you wrap portions of the exhaust the heat will build up downstream and fry close components.

The real solution is to replace the cats so heat gets through the system more efficiently and out the pipe.

Be careful I have had friends that used the wrap on headers and cracked them b/c of the massive heat that is retained inside the pipe.

Less restriction and better flow equal less heat build-up. Eliminate the crossover (restriction) and replace the 2 1/2" pipe with 3" (better flow) this will yield cooler sill temps and less in-cabin heat. You can always go back to stock if desired. :2tu:

...and don't just replace portions of the total exhaust system with 3". If you are going to do it make sure the diameter is the same through the whole system, cats, mufflers and all.

The Exhaust system at the primary cat, on up to the collector is 3 inch, or it seemed one section of it may have been, 2.75 inch in diameter, so this would be good to continue with 3 inch, instead of 2.5 as the car comes with past the primary going back. I was surprized to see the car did not have 2.5 at the collector or primary cat.
