Not only is it inexpensive but sounds good too. Cut the cat, replace with straight pipe, cut the rear muffler, replace with straight pipe. The sills and cockpit will stay cooler, extra power and sound the way it should.

I agree with the muffler shop route. Find a good local shop and have them remove the resonators and rear muffler. Replace both with straight pipes and your choice of chrome tips out the back. I have this on my GTS and 4" tubes extending out the back. Looks and sounds awesome. Warning: do not stand directly behind the snake when someone revs the engine (without covering your ears)
I'll post a picture here this afternoon.

Congrats, you picked a great year!!
Last spring I put on Belanger headers, Mopar 3" and Roe 3" cats!
I am very happy to say the least!

Like wow and others have recommended, more people are going the inexpensive muffler shop route. HP gain is the same or more than any catback and sound is as good (but sound is subjective).

First replace the muffler with straight pipes. If that's not loud enough go catless or hiflow cats. Remove the resonators if you want every last bit of sound. Total cost less than $500.

I admit most of the catbacks sound very good but so does just removing stock muffler, cats, resonators. Borla, Corsa, etc., the muffler they use is what's mostly responsible for their sound.

Cutting out CATS and Resonators/Mufflers is definately the cheap way to go, however you are still running your exhaust through a Stainless Steel system which will not truly have a deep sound.

If you like the old muscle car deep sounding exhausts, then you must go with an aluminized steel system like Belanger. I have their complete system and I get many compliments on the sound of my Viper. Some people even say it's the best sounding Viper they've ever heard. Of course sound is subjective, but if you want your car to have that deep rumble your gonna have to come off a little $$$.

Go with Belanger headers and Cat Back with a set of Random Technology Cats if you'd like a truly deep sounding exhaust.

Cut the cat's, remove the rear muffler (put xpipe in) and get MOPAR or 02 sims.

My 00 sounds better like this than the my "poor idle" cam'd 97 RT did.

I can give you a recommendation, but first tell me you wanna be a poser or a player? Why don't you ******** a pair, spring for the cash and get a real exhaust system - headers to tail pipe tips. Do that and a few other tweaks and just maybe you won't be suckin my exhaust forever. I'll bet you'd like to listen to some audio files just to be sure you're getting that babe magnet rumble. Right? Jury's in - Poser!
