Exhaust upgrade advice needed

Okay, I have been searching the forum and have a lot of different options apparently. Can anyone give me some solid advice on a proven setup? Belanger(sp?), Corsa, delete cats or keep them, remove crossover or not? Stuff like that. I dont want obnoxiously loud and raspy. Prefer deep throaty rumble. Thanks in advance.

I have an 06' with Full Belanger setup:
Full length Headers, High Flow Cats, 3" Magnaflow Mufflers.
Idle and anything below 2,000 - 2,500 rpm and it is not too loud, but if you mash the throttle and/or cruise 2,500 rpm or above then it may be too loud for you.
I like the loud exhaust note with the deceleration pop sounds, but I can cruise around town keeping the rpm fairly low and it does not bother me.
To me, this setup sounds like a boat at idle and a Maserati at high revs.

You should attend some viper club meetings and hear different sounds first, its all personal preference. I had to change mine three times to get it right, as Allan says get rid of crossover first.

Full Belanger with HF cats will get you what you are asking for although there is not a lot of power added if you have a Gen3 car.

I've tried just about every available option on my Gen III. Many are too loud for me, but I don't like loud car on the street for any period of time.....and many times the "drone" is worse than the volume if you pick the wrong set up.

Running on a race track is differernt. My ACR is fairly loud, but with a helment on and for 30 minutes at a time, it's no problem.

Really depends on what you're after. As Wiretech says, attend some club functions and listen to / ride with some of our guys cars.

It looks like you are located in Louisiana. The North Texas VCA, not really to far from you, is having a dyno day this coming Saturday starting at 3PM. If you can get away, you may want to join us just to listen to the cars on the dyno.

Thanks for all the input! I apologize for not being more specific on the car. I have an '03 black convertible, all stock except for the K&N filters. The previous owner didn't add anything to the car as far as exhaust or upgrades as far as I know. Can anyone tell me how to tell if I have stock headers? That is the only other thing that looks aftermarket, but they may still be stock.

I am trying to get the feel of what the best route is to start from and build from there. I think exhaust is usually the best start, but please tell me if I'm wrong regarding the Gen 3's. If not exhaust, what are the best upgrades I can start with(other than removing the crossover and cats...)? What is all the talk about the intake upgrade? Would a full head job be money better spent? The car is awesome as-is, but it's my new toy and the sky is the limit, but so far I can't get off the ground. As I said earlier, I have used the search for all this so I'm not just being lazy, but it gets more confusing the more I read. Too many decisions!

So, do I just go to my local muffler shop and have them cut out the crossover, or is it more involved than that? And with the cats, I know I will need an O2 simulator, but what about making the difference up? Do I just add a piece of tubing? It already sounds like a hack job. I'm thinking the answer is to just buy a complete exhaust sytem. Am I right?

Not as simple as cutting anything out you will need to buy the exhaust as a complete system yes.
