It's in the avatar, Tony...bone stock 2008 SRT. It's why I commented I knew what compcoupe was talking about. It'd be fun to run THOSE two together, just for the fun of it, NO money, NO win/lose, just to do it...we don't track however, and ACRSteve makes a good point...tracking would be a whole 'nother story! ~juli

Yes I did, Mike! AND, it was great meeting you too! I think the FGT and Gen 4 Viper together would make for quite a tight race. ~juli

Okay you guys win, the GT is a slug and would even lose to even Chuck's Gen I. When I heard a Gen IV did a burn out my GT almost wanted to get flat bedded home due to smoke inhalation. I stumbled into my driveway though, she never quit. Shame on Ford for making such an inferior car and by the way winning LeMans four years in a row. How dare they rebuild such an icon!!!

Do I drive my car or drive my bf??? Hmmm...that's a loaded question! Yes, I drive the Viper. We prefer to either take BOTH cars out (Vette/Viper fun!) or both in the Viper, then Mike drives, or if you wanna get into more detail, Mike drives his Busa and I drive one of the vehicles depends on the day. ~juli

Well point 1 the 08 has conservative 600hp at crank and normally aspirated. So attributing a 15 loss to the wheels that puts it at a very conservative 510hp (with very strong torque numbers. Your Ford has I believe a very conservative 550 at the crank however we have dyno a ****** with 499hp to the wheels so based on the fact that it weighs about 30 more and has at least 10 less horsepower and its normally aspirated torque curve is better and based on this 06 test

Now the second point you did not understand- I have driven a Gt on the track (barley fit with a helmet) it works well but comparing it to my well underpowered 99acr my personal opinion is that not only would I beat you but I would beat you by many seconds. Now don't take it personal the GT is a great car (I especially love the Gulf colors) but on a road course its a lot more then a great car if you get my jist.

And by the way welcome to the club and if you haven't noticed we are very protective of one another ,its like an extended family so don't take any of this personally i am sure as you attend more events you like everyone else who feels NY is cocky will grow to love us I look forward to meeting you and seeing the new ACR and GT and I am sinsere when I say welcome to the club.

Great response Steve, thanks very much! I was familiar with the 2006 specs which is sort of what I was going on and another near 100 HP on the 2008 would certainly make a difference. You know it's a shame in a way that Ford nixed the build on the GT for like the Viper it could have improved immensely over time although I'm glad that no more will be made from a rarity standpoint. I gather you are a racer so I would have to ask when you speak of your '99 is it set up for the track, i.e.suspension, slicks, motor etc. or a you referring to a stocker vs. a stock GT. Also when you say you'd beat me I'd rather ask would you beat yourself, simply meaning are the cars set up evenly and which one can you turn a better time in? Are you saying the Viper might be better technically (which respectively I have a hard time believing) or is it about the set-up you are running in your car vs. what you drove in the GT? Just curious for as you know a 600cc bike can beat a 750cc if it has a better set up and of course a better rider. Just an analogy I thought I'd throw in. Either way thanks for the welcome and I look forward to meeting you and maybe getting some pointers from you!

Steve's our treasurer (a position that has made his life worthwhile) and our competition chair. We have a track event every year which he puts together which I'm certain you'd greatly enjoy. He's also (and I'd be surprised to hear an alternative opinion) our best track driver who has the most annoying habit of being incredibly generous with his driving knowledge. It's one thing to be talented.....but to rub it in by being NICE is just too much.

Dan, make sure to attend our driving event(s) next season and I'm sure you'll have great fun AND leave with a wealth of new driving knowledge.
