Fan Speed Relay: Always HI w/Trick Yellow "Jumper" Relay (trips P1489)

I think this was a common trick much talked about around 2000 but couldn't find any search hits to confirm. (Think I learned about it at a Viper Days.)

The purpose is that when the fan comes on, you ALWAYS get HI fan.

Could someone confirm this?

This also produces the "High Speed Fan Control Relay Circuit" DTC.

Any ways to get rid of that DTC?

You can just take a 3" wire with 2 male spade connectors on it to replace the fan speed relay to do that. Pretty easy but 'backyard engineering'.

Yeah, that's what the yellow "relay" does - it only has 2 male spades that do that. I have no idea what part number it is or who makes it.
