Feb 02 Motor Trend -Redemption

So I'm in the airport heading out on business, and pick up the new MT with the Z06 on the cover.The header is "Sports Car Revival", but, of course, no mention on the cover of VIPER. At the end of feature stories on the Z06 (which I like, by the way), and others, there is simply a listing of "Significant Others" which includes VIPER. Now the blood pressure is noticeably up until I read the notes, which in pertinent part state as follows:

"Behold the Mack Daddy of em all:the all-conquering 8.0L/450- hp V-10 Viper has set numerous magazine and racing records.It's endured challenges by one-off boutique cars and the likes of Ferrari. As subtle as a sledgehammer, the rear drive GTs and RT-10... even won a Motor Trend "What's Your favorite Car of All Time" poll........We fell sorry for the other guys" Page 70, Feb 02 Motor Trend

I read a comment that Dave Hill, Corvette Guru, made regarding the 2003 Viper. It appears as though Chrysler is trying to upgrade the Viper to become a Corvette competitor. This after he listed the Corvette competitors as the Boxter and Z3!!!

Even my Corvette owning buddy who told me about that laughed.
