Personally I think the flywheel is one if the best mods but your likely to get mixed views. I love the ease of rev matching and car feels as if it accel quicker. May buck some at parking lot speeds.

Also if you have significant miles on the car say 20 plus, change the clutch. Stock on eBay is 200.

Have you driven a Viper with a lightweight flywheel? I have one and will definately be changing it out. Terrible for street use at low speeds as in traffic or residential streets. Just my opinion:crazy2: I have a GenII - don't know if it is different in a Gen III.

I have the Fidanza in my car(gen 3 coupe) and love it. Course I'm running a little more power than stock though. Once the car is warmed up, I have no low speed surging or bucking.

Nope, didn't drive the car with the lighter flywheel, just heard some good responses. However, some of the responses on this thread makes me think again. What do you guys mean that it "bucks" on low speeds in city driving? While I track my car, most of the time I still spend on the street and don't want to have some strange behaviour from the car once I change flywheel.

I think its very impressive. The accelleration diff is very noticable. I have not had any other problems. I love the alum wheel.

I am not sure I understand the use of word "bucked" in this content :)? Do you guys mean that because of the lighter flywheel one need to learn how car react to the gas pedal and be more careful about it? If that so than if I understand correctly, "bucked" in this content means that the car "jumps" when you push the gas pedal?

I did a centerforce clutch and fidenza fw earlier this year and did not notice much on 3.07 gears. Months later I did the 3.55 gears and it sure made a big difference. Only downfall for me is at the drag strip, I have to shift more, I think I trap in 4rth but don't recall very well as its been months since I have been out to the strip.

I road race more than drag the car and on my tight technical track in San Marcos, I typically stay near redline in 3rd with only one shift to 4rth on the straight. I suppose, if I kept the stock 3.07 I might stay in 3rd on road course the whole way and save some time by one less shift at the strip.

But I do like running through the gears on the street and I wanted to make the car feel faster with out adding more than an intake and exhaust and it does. I also get to use 5th and 6th more on hwy.

To clarify, I am not in 3rd at redline the whole course, but in 3rd and working my way up to redline at my fastest as there does not seem to be any real benifit in going into 4th as I will be slowing down soon enough and its a tight (lots of twisties) track.

I did not notice bucking but since the car is a torque beast, I have learned to be very light on initial throttle pressure. Gotta love that TORQUE though.

I am 95% certain that you must certainly have "OTHER ISSUES" at play.
Your comment for a Gen 2 user is Waaaaaaaaay out of the norm, so I strongly suspect ignition issues or throttle-body synch issues. And Yes, THE YEAR MATTERS, even WITHIN Gen II. The cams matter!

I believe SoCal is joking with you a bit.... anytime you jump in a new/different manual trans car, your first few launches are a learning experience. Same as a lightened FW. After 2-3 launches you master it. {SoCal took 6! }
