I was on the Berlin Tpke here in central CT. - an area famed for street racing. I have not, and do not plan on racing at all like this - but tonight I destroyed a kid in a 2001 Ram Air Firebird. He pulled up to the light on my right and asked me to give it a go. I said I'll pass. Then his buddy said you can't take us - so I told him he was crazy. This is what got me, the passenger goes, 'Dude, Viper's are overrated, everyone just assumes they are fast.' I replied, 'You know what, I'll give you a head start.' So the driver says, 'No, let's go for real.' I said OK. The light turned green and I actually hesitated bec. to be honest that was my first race with the Sanke so I wanted to be sure it was on. Even with a bad launch, I was by him so fast, when I hit third he was way behind me. So anyway, they follow me to where I was going to eat - and wanted to run about a 1/4 mile on 91. I said it was pointless. So then the passenger got really worked up and said his '91 Supra could take me - I think he was on something bec. he was looking to fight. I said, 'Look, I'm going to go inside to eat an f'n steak - take care.' They were so mad, and glared at me as I walked away. In retrospect I should have moved my car, bec. they were the type that would do something to it.

I've had many nights on the Berlin Tpk. I grew up just outside that area. Always circling around ******* and Roy Rogers.

I'm glad you smoked 'em! :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

I'm surprised it was a Firebird, seems like there's nothin' but rice burners up there now...

Yeah, mostly ricers on the Pike now, but this kid was in a Firebird.

Sometimes I wish that they could just say "Great car, sure is fast, yada yada".

Instead they taunt you. You destroy them and the machismo comes out about a fictional car that someone's uncle has that could destroy the Viper.

Yawwwwn. I don't even race them anymore. Victor or vanquished you still deal with the post race nonsense.

You handled the situation perfectly! Although I think I would have either moved my car or at least got a seat where I could keep a close eye on it. Those young punks obviously don't have respect for a Viper. :2tu:
