Last night I finally made it to the drag track, first time ever, what a blast. I put on a set of slicks and went to the Baytown track (out side of Houston). Enjoyed myself so much I only hope the money holds out to continue this. I can see where it might be cheaper to have a d*** habbit.
I do not have a full roll cage so I was told if I ran under 12 sec in the qtr mile I would be asked to leave. First run in the 60 foot was 1.662, the 1/8th was 7.356 at 95.91, went through the 1/8th and let off of the gas and still showed a 11.93 through the 1/4 mile. We were told that we had one more chance so I was really watching myself and started breaking after the 1/8th mile. My first time ever track numbers were 7.837, 7.764 & 7.799. The burnout got easier everytime and was a blast. I will be back out at the tract for the next 3 weekends before VOI in hopes of a better launch.
I thought it was against the law to have this much fun. What was your first track experiance like, how did you feel after your first run?
Had to share this with someone.

Did you run slicks or drag radials. Which tires did you run up front? If you mixed did you notice any handling problems?

Rohn,

Those are great times. Its so much more fun on ET Streets isnt it?I ran mine for the first time on the ET Streets a couple weeks ago and went 7.51 @ 97 mph with a 1.68 60 ft.I was slipping the clutch when I could of just dumped it .I know I can cut a 1.5x 60 ft and get my times around 7.3x.If you get your 60 footers around 1.5x youll knocken on sixes through the eighth.

I went to Astroworld.

Great runs though. Were they motor only runs or did you have your NOS on?

Trey, you are invited next time for sure. Your coaster runs were above the 1.6"s and 1.7's we were making.I will call you this week, I might rent the sealy track for the afternoon.
Just motor no added fun to the run.

M/T slicks w/ firestone skinnies. I drove to the track w/ the tires and yes it handles much different. It is one of the better rushes in life.

Sounds like you had a great time.

Pretty amazing that they almost wouldn't let a stock car run because it might be too fast.
