What's up peeps,
My name is Brian and I'm super stoked (and still in shock) to be able to say that as of March 19, 2016, I am the proud owner of a new (slightly used) Adrenaline Red 2013 SRT Viper GTS!
Growing up I, like many of you, had countless posters and toy models of the original Dodge Viper. I never in my wildest dreams thought I would be a Viper owner. For 2 reasons:
1. I never thought I'd be able to afford one, EVER! Let alone at the age of 23.
2. Although it made a great poster and toy, as a young adult I never thought the Viper was very good compared to the competition.
I've spent a lot of time at the race track in shifter karts, race spec Porches and I have also spent a lot of time on and off the track with cars like the Corvette, GT-R, M3, Audi R8, etc. In my opinion the Viper just never held a candle to any of those cars. But the reality was, I never gave it a chance. I always based my opinion of the Viper from watching reviews of it online or reading articles on popular automotive publications. I currently own a highly modified 2008 Dodge Charger R/T and I still remember getting into a heated argument with Ralph Gilles and the entire Chrysler executive panel at the Spring Festival of LXs a few years back about why the Viper would never appeal to someone like me. That I'd always choose the Corvette or the GT-R over it.
Well, a few weeks ago I set out to buy a Charger / Challenger Hellcat and my girlfriend said, "If you're going to spend that much ridiculous money on a car, don't get a Hellcat. Everyone has one. Spend a little more money and buy something special...why don't you buy a Viper?" I scoffed at her.
Long story short, I came across this Adrenaline Red 2013 SRT Viper GTS while looking at a white Challenger Hellcat. I asked the dealer what the story was behind it and it turns out it used to belong to one of the sales managers at the dealer. I spent over an hour talking to him about the car and his experience with it. Then, after checking my credit to make sure I was serious, they let me drive it. All I can say is, that's all it took for me to understand it all. It all made sense. Nothing can describe the excitement and joy I felt after driving it. I HAD to have it.
So I bought it! (After having my good friend who is a Master SRT Tech give me the blessing)
Anyway, I know this is a long introduction so I apologize. I come from the Mopar world of LXs where, to be honest, a lot of the community is full of negative energy and immaturity. I've walked away with only a handful of friends. I'm hoping the Viper community is a lot more mature and welcoming. I'm here to make friends, learn and enjoy all things cars and all things life and just have a genuine good time with good people. I hope you welcome a young first time Viper owner!
Cheers!
