Howdy all,
I am in the process of looking for a gen 2 GTS for purchase sometime between late May and early November. I have a couple in mind that are on the market right now, and have a few questions that y'all might be able to help with.
The main car I am looking at right now is a 1997 GTS with a bunch of upgrades and parts from BTR. The seller says that he has all of the original parts to bring it back to stock as well. It was tracked to my knowledge, and has 22000 miles or so. Doing a VIN check, I see that it has not had the 998 recall completed.
Should I be worried about the recall? I do not know the extent of the damage that racing could cause without the recall (nor how much racing was done), and I do not know if the recall could be effectively done 17 years after it was released (less knowledgeable staff, etc.). Is there anything in particular that I should look out for with a tracked car? What kinds of questions should I ask the seller before going out to see the car (it is very far away from me).
Overall, what should I look for/avoid through the process? The main selling point for me is the rare color combination, but I do not want visual appeal to take precedence over mechanical condition.
Thanks
