It had to happen sooner or later. The sad thing is that I thought I was doing the speed limit. My V-1 didn't even have a chance to go off, the bogie was at the bottom of a hill, off to the side where you wouldn't see him. Luckily it was only 71 in a 60, a few miles back it would have been 90 in a 60. I sure thought that the speed limit was 70 on that road.

Oh well, it is a small price to pay to be able to enjoy this car.

NDW- Don't even give it a second thought. Just some guy trying to get a closer look, at his dream that is. I cruise along at 80 on the freeway (in a 65 of course) and snap, crackle, with his little brother pop pass me trying to see what a real car is. 71 in a 60- Sounds like a law abiding Viper owner to me. But, but lets not get to Cocky here. Sorry officer.... ah ah ah ah. I'll try to do better

I think its been the observation on this board that Vipers are given a pretty large degree of latitude by the local law enforcement. Texas in particular.

If you bought your car new 3 years ago and this is your first ticket, my hat is off to you.

I was driving in my usual reckless manner when I suddenly slowed when I saw a Motorcycle cop pulling on the freeway. By the time he noticed me I was going the speed limit.

He pulled right up next to me and gave me this big thumbs up.

It must have really steamed the people behind me in traffic.

Problem with living in a city this size and driving a Silver Viper, is that just about everyone knows who you are.

The population of my town is 4,700. It is the only Viper in the county, so needless to say I couldn't just blend in. But, like I told my wife, I would have gotten the ticket if I had been in my suburban.

The officer was a pleasant person, he must have missed the week of the academy where they teach the intimidation classes.

On the way home last night, I was the first upon a one vehicle accident. The same officer showed up about 15 minutes later. He just smiled at me.

I misspoke, the V1 went off instantaneously as he "shot" me when I came into his view. It did go off for a second, but there was just no time to react. He had me.

Amarillo is a "huge" metropolitan area compared to Mineola. I moved to the country from Dallas 10 years ago to raise my family in a little more sane environment. The last time I was in Amarillo, the wind nearly blew my RV off of the highway multiple times. I couldn't believe the straight winds and dust. It reminded me of growing up in southwest Oklahoma.

NDW, just out of curiosity, you say your V1 did not even have a chance to go off. How did the officer determine your speed? If he estimated then you should hire a lawyer to eliminate/reduce the ticket/points. If he used radar/laser then I wonder how the V1 missed it (new type of radar?!) or if it just went off too late.
