That was the best 24hr Daytona race I can remember seeing!
'Dinger and McNish door banging at 180mph on the high banks was breathtaking.
The GT race was awesome as well. All the lead changes.
Poor Scott Pruitt, overmatched all day then lost the gearbox with 2hrs to go...
Excellent race, 7 seconds apart after 24 hours....My view is that Pruitt blew that gearbox himself ....in too big a hurry to get back out. Winning team owner made reference to Jack Roush so perhaps he built the Ford V8's for the for ford teams. Ford 1-2-3 in top class hasn't happened since the GT 40 days. The horsepower out of those Ford engines was unbelievable, and the Riley chassis is very good. Interesting thing is that Riley was partnered with Roush back in 1984 when they both went TransAm racing...team was called Roush-Protofab and after 1 year they busted up ...couldn't get along.
You may be right about Pruitt and the gearbox.
How about some props for Marco Andretti?!
The guy tests and IndyCar all day, flies to the race after it starts, races a car he has never driven, on a track he hasn't been on in years, in the dark and runs competative times! Say what you will about him in IndyCar, but give him credit for this one!
