The 97 and 98 and 99 are the years with the forged pistons , right?

I hope the experts chime in, but I think it was a mid-year 1999 change that the cars went to cast pistons. I wonder if there is a way to tell for sure?

I've never heard that. I've always heard ALL 99's were forged and ALL 2000's-up were cast

Change over from forged pistons is consistent with the model year change from 99 to 2000. All 99's have forged pistons.

Yep, All 1996, 1997, 1998 and 1999 were the old slug forged slap happy pistons.

Kind of like those urban myths.....like what does the manufacturer do with ALL of the OLDER model year engines that are just "laying" around......."do I have an older technology 2006 engine in my 2007"???
