Re: Frank\'s clear 3M bra

If you refer to me, the stuff I use is from Salt Lake (clearbra.net). He tells me it isn't the same as 3M. I know it is much thicker. You can take the badge off by CAREFULLY prying it or leave it and cut the material around it. I pryed mine off and restuck it back on the clearbra (it is sticky-backed). The clearbra sticks by adhesive (similar to scotch tape). It is applied with water/alcohol and a squeegie.

You might want to call 888-400-7688 to see if they are having a installation "party" in your area soon. I don't believe they have an installation center there yet, but they are working on centers across the country.

I just put on the front of my Jeep and my new Viper. I love the stuff.

PS: I had to practice a bunch to do it myself, and ruined some of it in the process, but have the hang of it now.

Re: Frank\'s clear 3M bra

If someone would like to slit a roll of 3M paint film, I'll look into getting some. The 3M rep will send you installation instructions and tips. I played around with some 'pre-cut' products to see how much finesse it takes. It does take practice and patience, but I'd rather take the time (and consume the necessary beer products) than see the full thickness dings. Even if I could get rid of the bra it would be worth it.
The 3M stuff is sold as wide as 24 inches but in rolls of 40 yards. I figure 10 to 15 yards would be plenty for practice and covering multiple vehicles.

I may be able to get a roll for less thru a buddy at a Vette catalog sales company; otherwise I'd have to go thru NAPA where I live. It may take me a while, but I'll post a price when I get hold of a definite figure.

Here in Denver I get the 84824 roll (24 in. x 40 yds.) for: $805. There is a new size that just came out, 84724, that is 24 in. x 20 yds. that sells for around $410.

JM, about $200 will do the fascia and hood up to the louvers. I agree, it is best to have it professionally installed, 'cause if you screw it up, it's your cost. Of course, it will be about twice because of labor.

Again, there are TWO Clearbras on the web. The one I think is best by far is http://www.clearbra.net/home.html

Don't go through all the work of doing that. There are pre-cut pieces available for the Viper. I was looking at this company and know of a few that have used them on their BMW, Audi's and one viper. www.stoneguard.com
Good luck.

Frank, Frank, please keep your shirt on !!!! The clear bra is okay I guess, but couldn't you have shaved.

Frank " Manzier" Rabuse, king of the ClearBra's.

PS - I promise not to tell folks why you had so much fun installing it yourself.
