Hi Everyone,

First of all, Thank You for the many well wishes regarding my recent eye surgeries. Things are going really well and I'm really feeling good. Hey, I can see! I'm going to have another surgery around May and even though there probably won't be any racing this year, I should be tip top by this time next year so watch out Mumford!

Anyway, with that out of the way I wanted to let you know about something fun that I decided to do this year. I've chosen a couple of charities around Dallas that I'm going to endow with a percentage of each product that we sell. They are obviously the local eye-bank and the Pepsi Kid Around which is dedicated to children shelters.

As you may or may not know we have many cool gadgets that range from a few dollars to many and are all cool for your car. So here's the first deal. We have almost 100 short throw shifter kits http://www.dilusi.com/Pages/Products/ShortThrowShifter/ShortThrowShifter.Asp in stock that we're going to donate to the cause. For those that are interested (while supplies last) you can send $5.99 (covers S&H) to us and we'll send you our Short Throw Shifter which is usually priced at $19.99 + $5.99 for shipping and handling and we'll make a comensurate donation to charity. It's easy, and everyone wins!

For those that are interested:

ViperFans, this shifter-shaft meets with my Good Viperkeeping Seal of Approval. Anyone with a 99+ should have this. It is a great solution to the shifter ambiguities we all live with. You will think you have a top-loader Lotus: the shifts are that much better.

Think about this shifter and how much it is really worth to you. Send David that extra amount. Twenty bucks, maybe fifty- come on what does a night out cost anymore? These children's charities could really use a little of our discretionary income. My wife reminds me the baby sitter cost us more than this the last time we had a night out.

Think about it: you get the shaft, and the kids get a home.

Displaying my ignorance... will this lower the elevation of my shift knob (I hope)? Will this cause warranty problems? Is it easy to install? The way the post reads I just send shipping and handling and receive the shifter; then Tom's post mentions the discretionary amount to go to charity (no problem, great idea!) It's just until reading Tom's post I didn't really understand how the deal worked. If I can get these questions answered I'm in!

Hi Guys,

The shift adapter will shorten the shift approximately 35% since it removes the bulky rubber isolater that's between the tranny and the shift knob itself. It will also dramatically enhance the feel and precision of your shifts because you can now feel the shift gate much better. Although I can't say for sure regarding the warranty I seriously doubt this would have any effect since it's about the same as changing the shift knob. The installation is really easy and will take from 10 to 30 minutes and requires the simplest of tools. You'll have to remove your ashtray and the bezel that surrounds the shifter and radio. Then lift the shifter boot by bending the soft metal tabs that secure it. Replace the shift isolater with the new adapter and then put everything back in place. Presto! Short, precise shifts and a PERFECT height for your shifter knob!

My motivation for this project is really several layers deep. First, I was looking around the shop for something easy to do and was kind of grumbling about spending SOOOO MUCH on these cars and never feeling like I ever got a break on pricing or cool stuff (other than enjoyment) in return. At that time I was holding this box of packaged shift adapters (we're way overstocked) and thought "What the Heck, I'll give something back!". Next, I was thinking about what to donate to my charities. And finally, was considering the position for the local charity guy for the North Texas VCA. Who know's, maybe that could go somewhere?

So that brings me to offer a cool gadget for your car at no cost to you other than S&H. While they last, everyone that wants one can get one and any overages in the money will be donated as well as the original value. Like I mentioned, I'm also considering donating a portion of ALL SALES to the charities. If you want to send more than S&H I'll make sure it gets to the correct place and will post the results when the shifters are gone.

On a side note some of my friends and I were considering sponsoring a couple of cool track events this year that were focusing not only driving and having fun but also on sponsoring a charity. Part of our thoughts were to have ALL local vendors participate and donate and with a high level of participation could easily gain administrative support from the charities along with TV and radio coverage. Around here $25K buys ALOT of love from the organizations. Whaddyathink?

Dave, it's great to have you or anyone else thinking about ways to help those less fortunate. Thanks.

You SHOULD be aware that the "Charity Events" director position is still open here in the North Texas region. Two others have talked to me about doing this kind of work, but the board has not yet met to discuss it. Can I assume you might possibly be interested in throwing your hat in the ring?

Hey King,

That's what got me thinking about the entire "Charity Thing" in the first place. I'm a little worried about having enough time to fill those shoes though. But, I'm thinking about it!

Just so you know I received about 20 responses to the free shifter. If I'm not careful I may get give away all of these things.
