Just added one up to see
  • 120,395 - GTS
  • 1,995 - Destination fee
  • ?,??? - Gas Guzzler tax
  • 14,600 - Stryker Red (stripes not avail AFAIK?)
  • 5,100 - Carbon Fiber Exterior
  • 4,800 - Carbon Fiber Aero
  • 1,000 - 18 speaker
  • 350 - Red Seat Belts
  • 3,500 - Track pack
  • 500 - Matte wheels
  • 7,500 - Laguna

True but in reality it appears that most GTS will be solid colors, maybe upgraded interior, and stereo system.......most will be less that 130k

I think it is interesting that, for the price of the Porsche Carerra S, you can option it out to the cost of a Porsche turbo S - if you so desire...

What gets me are the "die hards" that say the Viper should basically have wooden seats, then they talk about how "The Viper costs $150,000 now!"

Yeah, if you want everything - or you can buy the base for under $100k...

It's gonna **** for the high optioned cars! People are stupid and naive and will compare the base SRT with the GTS. When I say people, that's including current viper owners! Don't believe me, list your car in the classified and see some of the ridiculous offers you will get!

I like to keep things simple....The SRT & The GTS both have the same horsepower, so I'd rather start with a base model SRT then option it out...It'll still come out cheaper than the starting price on GTS...

Hey..I'm not knocking anyone for buying the GTS ( if that's what they desire )..there's nothing wrong with having a few extra bells and whistles. But I'd be curious to see the actual performance #'s between the SRT & GTS...I'm betting there probably isn't that much of a difference..With that being said..I'd probably go with an optioned out SRT... :)

$163k is still 1/2 the price of a MP4-12C, 1/2 the price of a 458 Italia, $100k less than a fully optioned gallardo and about 30% of the cost of an aventador; its also $100k less than a fully optioned Bentley supersport. considering the gen V is made by hand in a limited production amount like these other cars, and has supercar status given its performance numbers, like these other cars, the price point is really low relatively speaking.

on the other, hand thats 30% more than a ZR1, and the price of TWO new Lotus Evora's; its the same price point as a new MC Stradale and 30% more than a new 911 cabrio.

I agree....I'd love be there when the first GTS owner explains to the new buyer; how his model is exclusive cause he has the 15k paint job!!....LoL!!

The reality is no one is ordering cars like this, and with only about 30 or so Stryker Red cars being done, it is really pretty much a non issue. We have one car over 150K, tons in the 130s and quite a few GTSs in the 120 range. So , in theory, it may be fun to show what one might run if all the stars aligned and one would order every option, but just like Porsches and other supercars, this virtually never happens.

It appears the Stryker Reds may be completely allocated, and with no Carbon Fiber options available at present, it would be hard to load one up anyway - just my humble opinion.

Agreed, Bill. The beauty of a market is someone can spend 15k on a paint job if they so chose. I have no problem with that. It's the same reason Hennessey can charge 1 mil for essentially a tuner car. The car is worth what someone will pay for it. Btw, how many "base" SRTs do you have atm?

That's too much money IMO. Especially the new car pretty much being the same as the Gen 4 underneath the skin. How many are just buying the bare bones model at $98k?

I'm at $107 (with delivery, exc gas guzzler), i really only wanted leather seats and the nav.

I am not buying, but if I was, it would be SRT, Track, Leather, Seat belts and some CF stuff if avail.

I think the point is that the Viper is a good value for what you pay for it. For as little as $100k you can take on the most exotic cars on the track. Or option it out if you like with more bells and whistles, if you prefer more creature comforts and "rich, Corinthian leather," as Ricardo Montalban would say, LOL. Still at a third to half the price of a 458. The price of the 458 bases at $237k, but the one Car and Driver just tested totaled $333k with options. Now that's what I call expensive. To me, the Viper is an outstanding value. It is one gorgeous, bad ass machine as well.

I disagree: The Viper Has as much if not more HP & TQ, can run with any one of them and does so with a rock solid non boosted, non turbo charged V-10. It does so at 50-70% less cost. IMHO Looks as Hot...
or Hotter.
And correct me if I am wrong but when did everyone start expecting a NA Engine to Out perform a Forced induction, Souped up tuner engine (time bomb). Regardless of Who souped it up? The Viper will need only gas and oil changes for 100K miles or more.
Different strokes for Different folks but the New Viper is just as exotic still a bargain and still a winner.

IMO the real differences are in the customization of the product. Which, also adds to the cost of the high end exotics. I'd love for the Viper to have more extensive choices (custom paint, options, custom leather) - but that isn't going to happen.

But then again, Porsche has it, but no one really puts Porsche on the same level as Lamborghini and Ferrari.

But with the numbers Ferrari is putting out now production wise, there will be many more 458 on the road than 2013 Vipers.

So really, the exclusivity is the price anymore. Well, that and the Viper will sit next to a Dart in the showroom, where Ferrari doesn't have that issue.

But who cares, as long as the car is what you want.

If all the cars noted were the same price, no one in their right mind would pick the Viper over any of the others.

A point but reality is they are not the same price. How many people are excited to see a Viper on the road versus those other cars.
