Gasket/high temp sealant question

I'm finally going to install my exhaust system tomorrow, and in reviewing some old posts, I noticed someone said to only use the RTV sealant on one side of the gaskets rather than both. I'm using individual copper gaskets for both the manifold and the collector, and had planned to put some sealant on both sides. Anybody know why you would only put it on one side--that doesn't make sense to me?

Use the Copper High Temp RTV; it works well and use it on both sides of the gasket. I have had nice success with it on exhuast.
