No problem Jay, I changed the catalog description to make sure no one else gets caught up in the same issue.

I'm in! Gotta run to an appointment, but will place my order when I get back today. Thanks Dan!! My old gaskets were replaced under warranty, but BEFORE the MLS design had been released, so I still have the old paper gaskets :( Current mileage on the "new" old-style gaskets...66k! Like Dan said, even if I never need these, they'll be an easy sell in the future!

Keep in mind the torque of the head bolts. The wizard sold me my set and these new gaskets require more torque. Cheaper gaskets but not the right torque results in failed gaskets again. Just a thought.

While thats correct, thats pretty much a given and applies to any gasket, anywhere on the engine.

Outward Spiral torque sequence;

1. 40lb
2. 80lb
3. 120lb
4. 120lb

Bolts Installed Dry.

"For an "exact match" of OEM gaskets, order a 4.020 bore, and .051 thickness, to which I would add the .010 to attain a final gasket size of 4.030."

I must be a retard:crazy2:, but for a stock bore, so I need to order 4.02 (to which YOU? will add .010)?
Or do I need to order the 4.03? As soon as I know what to get, I'll drop in the order.

Thanks and sorry for the confusion...

Explaining Viper things to you
Should I go for more beer to clear the head?

I was sitting in the living room when the house began to tremble and shake. I knew that was my call was to rescue a fallen Viper brother.

The Bud truck - with girls - has been dispatched. For your own safety, please allow these trained specialists (the Bud girls) to assist you through this difficulty.

Be strong until then!

Tell me about it. I dont have the conscience to pull the crap that Dodge has even if I DID have the only exclusive in town. There is a fine line between "return on investment" and flat out taking advantage of and ****** your customers. Dodge went way, way, way, over that line IMHO.

hahaha, yes, *I* will add the .010 to the gasket bore when you order a 4.020. The website is set up to accept ENGINE BORE, not GASKET BORE. The actual bore of the gasket will be .010 larger than whatever the number selected is, and is designed to fit a max bore of the size selected, though a 4.030 gasket bore could certainly be used on an engine with a bore of 4.030 as well. However, this can *potentially* cause an issue on an engine with a piston that goes above deck at TDC, if it was rebuilt to do so- so we dont advise it unless you are sure what you are doing.

Dodge purposely runs all the gaskets "oversize" for Gen-1/2 at 4.030 as they can accomodate any overboring from cylinder repair in most cases, making it a one-size-fits-all gasket.

Hi Dan,

So far as I know, ARP does not make stud kits for the Gen-1's. It may be possible to locate something that can be used and "create" a set, I have never checked myself. I will look into it this week.

I'm with Dan and Dan,lets look into a stud kit!
:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

You must be registered for see images

LOL, well, that obviously answered the question as to whether or not the kits can be "assembled" with off the shelf studs.

I can only imagine what it will cost to put a set together though, those freak'n studs are usually about 20 bucks EACH when purchased that way.

Hi Jimmy,

There really is no "cut off date", at least not yet. I am still in negotiation with multiple companies to see what they can offer. [Or as I am finding out... what they are reluctant to offer out of sheer greed]

More than likely, I will bite the bullet in any case. I may be sitting on HUGE inventory either way, but these items will sell- its only a matter of time, it is a maintenance item. I would say with 99% certainty this will happen regardless of pre-orders... It just may take a bit longer if I dont see the numbers I am looking for. I am just offering this "group buy" to lighten the initial shock of it all.

I will say that we are about 50% of the way there for the number of pre-orders I would have liked to see, but I will ALSO say that there is a bunch of people on this thread or referenced in this thread who havent logged on and put their name on a pair of them yet either.

Are they ARP-2000 or 8740? That may be the difference. ARP-2000 studs, even one size down in 1/2-20 like the Gen-2 studs, run about 15 bucks each. I would imagine an 8740 would be cheaper, even at the larger size.
