Another one of those posts I've been meaning to make, but never did...

Should my factory alarm go off when I pop the hood if the alarm is armed? The alarm works fine if I open 1 of the doors, but not when I open the hood. I see something that looks like it is a "sensor" (black plunger thing) to see if the hood is open or closed with wires coming out the bottom of it. I'm not overly worried about someone stealing my engine, but if its an easy fix, may as well have it working properly.

Hood is not part of the alarm circuit in my Gen I
Uh, Mark, you sure? I'm fairly certain that opening my old 95's hood would set off the alarm. It has been a couple of years, I admit, but I'm pretty sure it was part of the alarm circuit.

I have a buddy with a 94' and he's told me before his hood isnt tied into his alarm circuit either. But since JiPi's has a 96' and his alarm is, I guess thats one of the Gen 2 upgrades us Gen 1.5ers got. Well, I'll fiddle with it and see what I can come up with. It hasn't worked since I bought the car (leading me to think it wasnt suppose too) and my engine hasn't been stolen yet, but now I'm worried for its safety lol.
