I ran my yellow 95 against my buddy's gray/silver stripes '00 ACR today. Three highway rolls, all from 60. One lower speed roll, from 30 MPH.
Interesting results.
First 60 roll, we were both in 3rd gear. RT/10 in the lead by half a car length through about 100, then we shifted, and ACR went half a car ahead. No further gain, but we backed off around 120.
Second 60 roll, both cars in 4th gear. RT/10 ahead from the get-go the whole time, by about a car length max when we hit 120 and both backed off.
Third 60 roll, both cars in 3rd gear, ACR ahead from the get-go, half a car by 100, RT/10 gained almost all of that when he shifted to 4th, then I shifted and he maintained half a car through 120.
Last roll, 30 MPH, ACR lept ahead immediately half a car length, pulled a wee bit more ahead of that by 80. Almost a full car ahead when we backed off at that speed.
ACR bone stock except for ripper shifter, just flipped 10K miles. RT/10 stock except for smooth hoses/K&Ns, ripper shifter, 51K miles. Both cars full of gas, drivers weigh within 10 LBs. RT/10 *******, but V-MANIA windows (Love 'em Biff!) installed. Temperature 50 dgrees.
I don't know what to make of this, but it was fun. Real world, no lights or timers, no $ at stake.
Anyway, that daggon creampuff is faster than it was when he got it a year ago. Last spring when he had less than 3K miles, the RT/10 waxed him three for three from 70 rolls. I expect he'll regularly clobber the RT/10 as he gets more mileage on the clock.
Next we're going to run the creampuff ACR against our 99 GTS that has over 30K miles. I think we'll bet lunch on that.
Oh yeah...quiet road, no traffic, no deer jumping in front of us, reconnaissance car (71 'Cuda 'vert with 526 cube wedge, 550 rwhp, 3.54 Dana...yes, naturally, a Mopar!) over a mile ahead trolling for bogeys (John Law), in comms via NEXTEL 2-way. Yeah, we'll run the 'Cuda when the owner stops running his mouth and accepts our offers...
Speed is life!
