Ok so the Gen 2's need a decent coil over for street use that doesn't break the
bank in my opinion. I know a couple different decent companies that potentially
could make one so I might start trying to email them to get the ball rolling on
this. I don't have high hopes to get one produced because the car is no longer
produced but hey, maybe it will work. I for one don't race my car but would like
the ability to adjust ride height.

Depends on what type of ride quality ypu will enjoy.

everyone raves about motons and penskes. There is now a new successor to motons... don't recall the name.

You could do what I did. I had set of GEN II ACR shocks rebuilt with Koni internals.
For me the ride quality is liveable plus it is adjustable. I have the car set as low as is practical for the street.
There will be those who claim that the springs need to be different etc.
So far so good for me.

The GEN II ACR shocks are General Dynamics. Mine were re-built with different internals.

They can be rebuilt to stock specs. I will send a pic.

He was going to release a set but I don't see them on his website so I don't think they are going to come out. I know Roe has Aldans on his website but there are so many negative responses to those I don't have enough time in the day to read about them.

LOL, noted.

I really have read too many negative things about them. I have sent emails to 8 major coilover companies, most of which I have had some experience with so we will see how that turns out.

The Koni's are the way to go. The Koni series number is 2812 and they can be built to suit your needs. I would like to find a reputable rebuilder though, that is reasonably priced. I need to get mine rebuilt and I believe the going rate is about $200 per shock with no alterations. I laughed for 5 minutes when I read General Dynamics:lmao:

Sold the koni's. I want a full aftermarket setup. I want to have the option to lower the car easily without having a racing setup. Those konis are built for racing.

I installed the double adjustable Penskes last year. Once you use them, they are one of those things that you feel are worth more than what you paid for them. I Have a set of double adjustable Aldan fronts with about 1,000 miles on them. If anyone want them, they can have them for 1/2 of retail. I had no problems with them, just wanted to upgrade.

Ok thus far I have had 2 companies express interest, K-Sport and D2. I have prior experience with K-Sport products and they were very nice coilovers. I asked these companies if they had interest in the 800-1400 dollar price range. K-Sport would like a 15 order amount, D2 has not asked any order amount though they have asked if the rear forks are removeable on the Gen 2.

That being said is anyone else interested in a set of adjustable coilovers for street use for your Viper? Not ones that are going to blow out after 100 miles but a good set with a good price. Let me know so I have some ammunition to back me up when dealing with these companies.

I would definitely be interested in a cheaper and better than OEM street shock that I could set and forget.

Any thougts about the KW Variant 2 setup KNGSNKE?

I had a pretty good line on a set of those and was actually considering it over the eibach/koni setup that I have ready to go on the car.

What about the KW's KNG? or are you looking for something less expensive?

How about we lay out All the current options in this thread. These are off the top of my head. Correct my numbers and i'll edit my post:

- Stock shocks Blue Koni's Used - $400
- Rebuild Koni Blue Shocks ------- $???
- Stock Shocks New -------------- $???
- KW Variant2 Coilovers --------- $4,000
- Penske8300 Shocks ------------ $3,400 + springs($??)
- Penske8700 Shocks ------------ $5,000 + springs($??)
- Moton Coilovers ---------------- $6,000

Ok thus far I have had 2 companies express interest, K-Sport and D2. I have prior experience with K-Sport products and they were very nice coilovers. Depending on the final price and quality of product i would def be interested in purchasing. Lower end of your range and i would have a check in the mail. Higher end(up to 2grand) and i would be interested in purchasing in the next year or two.

That being said is anyone else interested in a set of adjustable coilovers for street use for your Viper?

Why are you specifying street use? I would expect a better than stock setup that is eaisier to adjust back and forth between street and track. That is the beauty of most aftermarket shocks. It ***** that our stock koni's have to be completely removed from the vehicle to adjust. Also, I would expect the rate of the spring to be higher than stock. Not an ultra stiff track oriented spring but a nice medium similar to the springrate of the eibach's

A lot of us don't track our cars so a track setup is unnecessary. If I could get a shock that is adjustable that rides close to stock but I can do fine tuning on it for 1400 or less I am interested.

I personally will not spend 3k dollars on a set of shocks and springs that I won't use to their potential. If I could get a decent set for 1200 or under that I know are not going to die after 100 miles I am interested but I don't want to bounce down the highway like a ricer nor do I want to bottom out everywhere.

I am going to start a new thread to make it interest oriented and I am going to use your list DOM.

What i was getting at was our Stock shocks are good enough for the track so why explicity say that you want to make shocks for street use. I am assuming that you would like for someone to build a system that is better than stock including:

1. Adjustable height - This is good not only for lowering your vehicle but to also corner weight your car by fine tuning the corner heights to achieve an evenly ditributed balance/weight at all corners.
2. Adjustable Compression&orRebound (being able to adjust with the shock still on the car)
3. Stiffer than stock springs - Without these a lowered car will be more likely to rub tires when going over bumps.

All of these items are a PLUS for street use AND track use. So dont advertise as just a street setup.
Just say: Better than stock, or i like what you said in the new thread: "bridge the gap from OEM Koni to KW Variants" :2tu:

I like where your head is at.

"bridge the gap between oem koni to kw variants"

Please visit my other thread Dom and express your interest. We have a vendor here that has a production in the works.

That is pretty funny and yes it was late.

LOL !!! (Just funny to me since I work for General Dynamics. -- NOTHING related to car shocks there)

The later ACR had "Dynamic Suspensions" shocks

NI-KA: I'd be interested in finding out who rebuilt your shocks.
