GEN 2 Owners - Do you Wanna Go FAST?

I am trying to determine the product viability of such an item as you see in the following pictures, an ACR Splitter and Canard set and ACR Wing which should allow any GTS to aerodynamically stand toe to toe with an ACR, you will have to supplement the horsepower difference yourself, but a simple head and cam package will get you there.

So, GTS dudes, do you want something like this if it is available?

Respectfully, there is a lot more engineering that goes into these things. The drag and overall effect on the car at different speeds has to be investigated. Just my 2 cents.

Does not mean that you cant fiddle around with it and come up with something great by trial and error.

You have to give credit to Dodge engineers on their fluid dynamics. They have lots of resources that we, as owners, do not.

With all due respect, if you have investigated and seen the precursors to the ACR package, i.e. the GTSR aero pieces , the Compe Coupe Aero pieces and the progression of the them from the original versions to the final or current versions, you would see that there is nothing mystical or magical, it is aero as done on race cars, the splitter will work on either a GTS or a SRt, the front lip of the GTS needs to be trimmed off as it is an aero impediment. The roof line of the SRT Coupe - stolen from the GTS, the rear lip of the SRT coupe - stolen from the GTS

The Canards are just the natural progression of canards that started on the Viper GTSR race cars and their design and function will work on both GTS as well as SRT, Merlin was not involved in the design of these items.

This is getting a bit weird agreeing with GTS-R 001 on more than one occasion, but he is very spot on.

One of my buddies has recently been doing a bunch of testing in a wind tunnel and he said it was amazing how close you get with just altering and adding sensible aero pieces which were already tested on another car. It was very surprising to hear that most if not all of the items were with in 15% of desired results before wind tunnel testing.

Looks good but to stand toe to toe aero wise with an ACR you will also need a rear wing (mentioned) which produces 1000 lbs. of down force at 150 mph. Dont forget the suspension upgrades too. This is a much needed product for the GTS but hopefully it will be better quality then the Autoform stuff.

You are 100% correct, I have an abundance of ACR Wings and special braces to connect then to the GTS rear internal bulkhead

I have been looking at wings and splitters for awhile. Has my interest. I was wondering for awhile what it would take to adapt the GEN IV ACR pieces to the GTS. Looks like you may have the answer. If you can tie it all together with a recommended suspension upgrade it would make for a great package. ( I am assuming 1,000 lbs downforce with the wing )

Not trying to be a **** or anything, but check out the extent that they went into with the Computational Fluid Dynamics on the ACR. Modeled over the whole car. The stuff done was really serious. It was not just an add on.

Would the ACR wing be too wide for the GTS? Might look really good.

Souds very interesting, esp if the front pieces were or can be integrated in a manner that will actually transfer that downforce to the chassis and not just the factory plastic. I really like the current ACR rear wing and bracketry. You wouldn't catch me driving on the street with the old GTS wing or that horrible thing autoform makes.

So interestingly enough, if it looked factory and had the actual downforce capabillity of the current ACR, I'd really be interested.

Very nice item; I'd be more interested when I'm not living where I currently reside....crossing the curb at angle still scrapes each day; I'd hate to ruin this new fascia immediately after buying one.

Hey Patent,

I took all that into account when looking into this idea, luckily Dodge helped out alot by designing the cars very similarly, similar undercarrriage copied the top, etc.

Chances are what you are scraping is the lip well under your fascia, that piece unfortunatly will need to be zipped off as it blocks airflow under the car which is what causes the GTS and RT/10 cars to lift at speed in the front. My SRT Coupe is lowered to where I need 2.5 high jacks to get under it and I have a drastic incline and crap curbs at my house and with the right angle I make it up them, no new fascia in this mod, just a splitter and wing and canards and suspension

Ni-Ka,

It will all depend on what the wing is set to but yes the factory setting creates 1000-1200 lbs at 150 MPH, a jump in spring rates would definately be recommended, the standard stuff for Gen 3 and 4 is also the mainstay for Gen 2 Motons, Penskes etc.

Would the ACR wing be too wide for the GTS? Might look really good.

I think it will look perfect, but zipping and inch or 2 off is not a big deal, few people know this but the SRT AERO wing is made in the same mold as the SRT ACR wing, it just meets a Zip disk for a few extra cuts before it is painted.

I think a GTS will look just like an SRT COupe from the rear

It is best to zip it off Tony, it just kills the aero.

Exactly, this whole concept of late of bolting pieces of ABDS to the facia itself is absurd and will one day just rip the hell out of ones fascia. This splitter will bolt to the frame, like it does on the SRT10 and will attach with splitter cables to other inner supports, it will not use the fascia as a support of an kind, The GTS needs inner strengthening out back where the wing bolts on as well as the material thickness and type is not as strong as the deck-lid SMC that is in the SRT Coupes out back

Your fabbing skills and innovative thinking could be an asset on this project, and the fact you have a GTS don't hurt neither, lets talk this week!
