I ended up buying those factory scoops and hardware from Ebay for 275k. Seemed like a great deal. I can always resell if i don't like the way they look in the hood.

In regards to the airbox sealing/not sealing... I put the VIPAIR hood on my 04, complete with the grills and the hood liner. Heat has not worked properly since. I was thinking the engine was too ventilated? Maybe its something else. Anyone else run into this problem?

The heater system works off a small heat exchanger ("heater core") located under the right side of the dash. Hot water from the engine's cooling system gets routed through that heater core. If your heater is not working properly, the common issue would be a flapper door which channels incoming air through the heater core when heating is selected by the dash controls. In some cases (and I have not worked on my Viper for this specific problem, just other cars) the flapper is controlled by engine vacuum and a disconnected vacuum hose can cause the problem. But I believe the Viper has electric solenoid operated flapper doors. In any event, the type of hood would not/should not affect the operation of the heater.

In Gen3's, you do get some residual heating from the underhood air leaving the passenger side hood vents and then entering the fresh air intake at the base of the windshield. One advantage of the Gen4 hood design is that this transfer of underhood air is minimized by moving the vents forward. On a stock Gen3 with ventilation turned on and no heat requested, the incoming "fresh air" isn't all that cool, and you also get some preheated air (from the hood vents) coming in around the windshield with the top down.

Love your car!!! . It's a shame that you need a plate on the front. I will be up your way this summer (Mississauga) with my snake. We should get together.

Thanks for all the replies to my question as well as all the great pictures. i think after reading all the posts, that i will likely go with the OEM hood and vent grills. Spring not too far away, time to get one ordered, likely go through VPA. Thanks again

The only thing i had to do to my Gen4 hood was build up the spot where the alarm contact is. Because the alarm would go off at random times.

That's assume as my Viper stays at my cabin in north Georgia the roads are better plus I have the tail of the dragon in my backyard.
