Hey Guys,

So general concensus is that the majority of the HP gain for the gen 3 came from the heads. Originally I heard some talks about the intake being better too.

Anyways, what I want to know is if anyone has actually put the gen 3 heads on a gen 2? I know the issue with the exhaust, but I think thats a fairly easy item to fix, especially if you have B&B headers.

So what are the tricks for converting to gen 3 heads? What parts are needed? Next question is who is the best at port and polishing Gen 3 heads? And please give me a contact phone number for them.

Thank you.

Jon

Nope, current heads are stock. I had Jeff Mories stage 3 heads, and I sold them to Adam Brennan (AB).

can you believe all that power was off stock heads..

imagine what this is going 2 do ;-)

I always thought the Gen 3 engine was too far different than a Gen I/II... I'd like to hear more about this too!

nope, they bolt right on. speaking to greg good, he says the accessory location for the power steering is the only other issue, than the exhaust as I pointed out (an easy fix for this is to run stock gen 3 exhaust manifolds, or comp coupe exhaust manifolds, but wont unleash ulitmate power, you need the 1 3/4 headers. Intake should bolt right up. I'm probably goign to do this, just wondering if there are any gotchas from anyone in the know.

Nope. Ask the guys who take the gen 2, up to 510 cubes, how much power they get, without doing any other mods. I think you'll see its minimal. Now 542, now that'll make a huge difference.

Anyways, from those I have talked to its the advancement in the heads, even gen 2 cam 708 is better in our cars then Gen 3.

What are you talking about? You are comparing the difference with a stock Gen2 and a stock Gen 3, correct? If so, why are you talking about adding displacement with a stroker engine?

WHY DONT YOU READ THEN... the guy asked if the .3 liter displacement made some of the 50 hp difference. Notice how I quoted him? Just like I am doing you. I was explaining that in our cases, the viper benefits from better breathing, more so then just a slight bump in displacement.

And I was quoting an example to show, what I was talking about. And I was further explaining that if you went to 542, then THAT would make a difference in overall power, but not just 12 cubes over our 488.

"The guy" who asked was ME. You are telling me to read, when you obviously have not, since you don't even know who you are talking to.

I am not debating that the better breathing helps. It does. My point is that the increase in displacement helps too, and you omitted that from your original lists of reasons why the Gen3 cars have more power.

You got me on that one.. lol.. I didnt bother to see who was asking. But I am telling you and the other you ;-), that .3 is insignificant in the grand scheme of things when it comes to the improvements in the viper gen 3's motor over ours, I've heard its the heads primarily. Now the displacement helps. But the heads are responsible for the majority of the gains. Now, I would take our block and oil system over the gen 3 any day of the week. And their one big advantage the heads, I think is easy to fix ;-) We'll see. I plan to do this.

Speaking of the 543 motor, the only tuner I've seen offer that, but not now was John H a year or two ago. What all has to be done to get that 543 outta the stock 488? Also can you bore 30 over the iron sleeves?

Sounds like you need to start another post.

I need this thread to stay on track, so I know of any differences on the Gen 2 to Gen 3 head conversion.

Thx.

Hey Jon, has anybody done this yet? I have read lot's of posts asking about it but not heard of anyone who has actually done it yet.

What's the cost looking like? I still have not found anything more cost effective than a supercharger. (well except for NOS but I am not interested in getting on the bottle)

yeah, I don't like being bottle fed either. Liquid courage has never been my thing. I am sure someone has done this, 1tony1 was talking about it too, but as of yet hasn't done it. (he said something about how his reading comprehension being low).

And SC, I did that, and thanks to Paxton's crappy design, that one didn't work out so good. Higher NA power is probably best for me right now.

*******....the problem is...(just like you had above, making a fool of yourself) because you can't read EVEN when I quote the pm back to you. Questions that you dream up in your mind but never ask don't count. Thanks and don't bother me again.

I know all about the swap, even have the jig to weld the power steering bracket on (in the correct location) If you need any info or the jig let me know....NOT.

Agree.

My guess is it won't be a 1TONY1 / 2002 Viper GTS ACR joint venture.....

It's a safe bet that Anaconda won't be involved either. :2tu:

Jon,

The fact that you're being a Complete and Total Retard towards Tony only cements my opinion of you even lower. Stand up and Apologize. Upload that, m'kay.

Cheers,
