Gen 3 Jack Points

Hey Guys,

I need to pull my wheels on my 04. What are the best jack/jack stand points?

If you look under the car they are built into the frame. There are 4 little V shaped angles that stick down that are the jack points. The tricky part is getting the car on jack stands as you can't really jack up one point and put a stand under that same point. If you look in the back around the rear diff there is an access hole and a crossmember that runs side to side in the car. I've used this as a single jack point to get both rear wheels off the ground at the same time, but you still have to jack the car way up to get a stand under the rear side jack point and the nose will pretty much be touching the ground, which then makes it pretty tough to get the front jacked up. A lift is really the "A" answer, just wish I had one.

I want to pull the passenger side wheels only right now. Do I have to remove any of the underside covering to expose the "V's" ?

There's nothing there to remove. Just need to make sure your jack pad completely clears the sill prior to jacking up the car. Harbor Freight sells low-profile aluminum floor jacks with flat jacking surfaces. Do not use a jack with a deep cup-style or place a hard material between the pad and the jacking point (triangle) to make sure it doesn't contact the sill.

Yep, there are already cutouts in the sill for the jack points. They're low, but if you get down next to the car with a light you should be able to see them pretty easy. Front one is right behind the front wheel well, rear one is a little further forward than you might expect. The frame is actually stiff enough that you can jack the whole side of the car up with just the rear jack point if you're doing some quick service, but for an extended stay that's probably not the best idea.

Don't understand why it should have three jacking points per side (don't know of very many cars that do). They are specifically there (positioned behind each wheel) to remove the wheels one at time - as in the event of a flat tire situation . There are other areas on the frame that can be used but no car manufacture will mention that (for obvious reasons).
