Hey Guys..It's Jog and I'm back!!
I've been away for a few months cause I was in the middle of purchasing a new condo. Money got a little tight and I almost had to let my precious Gen. 3 go ( Thank god it all worked out!! )...But that's another story.........Anyway I'm here to tell you about a Gen. 5 Raffle ( 2013 Blue/White GTS ) at the Chrysler Dealership in White Plains NY. Tickets are $300 a piece and they're going fast, a portion of the proceeds will go to benefit the YMCA of Central and North Westchester. The drawing will be on Labor Day ( 9/01/14 ) between 12noon and 1pm. You can buy the tickets online at this website:

Well that's an inventive way to get rid of a car they can't sell.
The question is how many tickets are being sold?

That's exactly the case....they're selling 500 tickets at $300 a piece. If you do the math it comes to $150,000 ; which is the value of the car. I personally think it's a win win situation...The dealership gets their money back from their investment and the lucky winner gets a 150k car for $300...

I don't know about you..but 1 in 500....seems like pretty good odds to me...

413 tickets remaining. Do they have to sell all 500 for the raffle to take place or will they do it with less? If only half sell then they're losing money.

Oh, never mind...

In the event that 500 tickets are not sold, the raised funds will be split 50/50 with White Plains CJD and the winner. In either event the YMCA will receive $10,000.00. Stk #131147D, VIN #DV300136, Orig. MSRP: $140,490.00. Limited Edition #136 out of 150

Yeah, unfortunately it's not really getting the car for $300 once you pay all the taxes and winnings and stuff on it. Granted you still get it for a fair deal less than what it would cost to buy new, so it's still a smoking deal if you can swing it.

Okay..So you'll still have to pay taxes on the car. State and federal taxes should come to around 10% which would but you at around $14,000 out of pocket payout. Now let's add another $6,000 just for unforeseen red tape. That puts you at $20,000 total plus the $300 you initial spent on the raffle ticket which would put you at a grand total of $20,300......So..worse case scenario you'll be spending $20,300 to purchase a car valued at 140k!!!!...

I don't know about you...But I'd take my chances with the raffle and figure out how to pay the taxes...Later!!

More like $40k plus....and that is if they don't use the MSRP sticker price. If you worked for me and I paid you a bonus of $100k, how much of that would you have to pay in income taxes? Simple way to look at it.

This is correct. You would have to pay at least 25-35% as income tax plus the sales tax, transportation fee's and other ancillary fee's.
Sales tax alone in NY would be 12K+.

Just bought one. Pretty slick system they are using for ticket sales. I wonder how much marketing BS I'll start getting now....

With 3 weeks to go, I very much doubt that they will sell 400 more tickets at $300 a piece. So, anyone that buys a ticket today is most likely betting on winning maybe 15k-25k. Just my guess. But, if it is a charitable deduction that you would have made anyway; then, a no lose situation.

Note, after a google search, I see that the raffle for this Viper was also advertised in May, for a drawing to be held June 15.

Wow, kind of sad they can't even give away a Gen 5 Viper. Probably just bad marketing.

Selling lottery tickets for $300 for a possibility of winning a Viper, or $10,000 cash, doesn't meet my definition of a giveaway.

I purchased tickets a while back and I haven't received an email that the raffle was cancelled. I just checked the website and the contest is still going. Only a few days left till Labor Day, so I hope they hit their mark of 500 tickets sold...It'll be a shame if they don't get to raffle the car...This is a great way to win a great car!!

Only a few days left till drawing...Any Takers?!?...

Don't think its going to happen having to sell 402 tickets yet.
Same I received email the raffle was not cancelled yet.
Don't understand why tickets are not selling, maybe if they lowered price to $150 per ticket and sell 2000 tickets.
Odds of winning would seem a lot higher

I bought my tickets through the Eventbrite website around the beginning of August. Did the rest of you use the Eventbrite website for tickets? Since I bought more than one ticket, I paid $159.24 per ticket. Drawing was scheduled for Sept 28 at some college location. Here is the text of my cancellation email:

I'm also wondering if Eventbrite had tried to raffle off more than one Viper. I seem to remember reading about "128 of 200" as well as "136 of 200," indicating some confusion about which exact car was being raffled.

If appears there may have been two Dodge Viper raffles happening in New York state.

One to benefit the YMCA with a car donated by a White Plains NY dealer, drawing on Sept 1, with 500 tickets needing to be sold at $300 per ticket; and one benefiting a blindess organization with a car donated by Rockland Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealer, drawing to be held on Sept 28, with 750 tickets needing to be sold at $200 per ticket, with "VIP" discount for 2 or more tickets being bought.

Google FIGHT BLINDNESS DODGE VIPER RAFFLE and you will get several links reporting on the Fight Blindness raffle.

Google YMCA DODGE VIPER RAFFLE and you will get one link to EVENTBRITE.COM with info on the Sept 1 YMCA raffle, and a few more links to stories on a June 15 YMCA raffle. I don't know if the June 15 raffle actually took place.

I bought tickets for the Blindness raffle, which appears to have been canceled. Now to check and see if I actually got the refund.

Good luck to those of you in the YMCA raffle, I hope it happens.

Sad news..just received an email today from White Plains Chrysler. Due to the low tickets sales; the GTS Raffle is cancelled and all monies will be refunded...It would've been nice if the Viper Community came together and some lucky guy in this club won the car...Very sad...it was a great way to win a great car... :(

Read the statement below from White Plains Chrysler:

" We are enclosing a check in the amount of $300.00 representing the full amount you paid for the raffle ticket in the 2013 Viper promotion. Unfortunately, we sold far fewer than the 500 tickets we had expected. We know that the original plan, if we did not receive our quota of 500 tickets, was to conduct the raffle anyway, with the winner to receive one half of what we collected. In light of the fact that a small fraction of tickets were sold, we have determined to return your purchase price and cancel the raffle. It seemed to us that the fairest way to proceed is to return the full amount you paid, so that you would be in the exact same position as you were before the raffle started without any loss.

We understand that you might be disappointed at the loss of the opportunity to win the Viper and at the same time benefit the YMCA, but as it turns out there would have been no winner of the Viper. We believe that you would much rather have the $300.00 back in your pocket.

We of course were also disappointed for the YMCA, a wonderful and deserving organization, which will not receive any benefit from the raffle. But if there comes a time when you decide you would like to donate some money directly to a worthwhile charity that is of great benefit to the community, you might wish to consider the YMCA

We will begin the process of the cancellation today August 29th, 2014 and we have been advised that all refunds should be processed and finalized within 7 business days.

We thank you so much for your decision to participate.

Very truly yours
