Well I just ordered the mounts that Dajersey posted, they look very well made good interlocking design, and the most important thing that I like is there shinny.

Cool, they did make them in Chrome encrusted with fake diamonds for and extra $25. Did you get the transmission mount also?

I think I bought mine from Roe but someone told me the poly ones are all the same, made from the same manufacturer but relabeled. Don't know if that's true...

Well that usually is an industry standard. These shops dont manufacture stuff like that on their own premises and usually contract it out to a specific manufacturer. Some shops may add their own specifications on the stuff they manufacturer, but there is not too much variance one could apply to a standard polyurethane mount.

At 27.000 miles mine were toast and my tranny mount had almost no rubber left!!

I am getting all three mounts, I only have 3000 miles, I am really just doing them to upgrade a known weak point. Just like the power steering pulley and bracket .

Do you have headers? I wish we would have replaced them when we did the header install. It would have been a little easier...

The OEM ones? I think its more of a heat cycle and dry rotting of the rubber that kills them. Keep in mind they are almost 20 year old rubber on some cars. You wouldn't trust 20 year old tires..

Yes. Rubber is no good. The poly ones are the only way to go imo.

Ya, I am doing the ball joints and control arm bushings (poly) on my GTO. You should see what 45 year old bushings and ball joints look like.

I guess it's the same feeling no matter what vehicle it is. If you are willing to put up with the harder ride, than poly is the way to go

Yes I have headers, but it looks like there not in the way that much. Free2go the cam is awesome, I have the last year for the hairy cam. Also I think 98 and 99 had the steel headers from the factory, I was pissed when I saw my old exhaust header looked like the new header, if I knew what I know now, I would have left the stock ones, they were just as light and SS steel tubes like the new one.

I was just made aware of this and although the post about the Woodhouse mounts was 7 years ago and written by the owner Bob Woodhouse for informational purposes only, posted by me at the time it was in no way a condescending reply and I apologize if you feel it was. Is any product perfect and without failure? Doubtful, but we have sold a lot of them over the years so the sample is pretty large, yes there has been a couple customers that had problems that is well documented and they were worked with as far as I know. SRT was instrumental in the design and hardness the mounts needed to be for the vibrations the V-10 has, it was very important to them and Woodhouse to do it the best they could. At the time Woodhouse took on this products development there were NO options other than stock for the Viper and we tried to fill that void with a high quality and properly designed option for the Viper community and we did a pretty good job. Until we did it there was no reason for the big box brands to even look at the Viper because it was such a small market and when they saw them take off they jumped in with a "more generic" offering. Is that a bad thing? Nope and everyone wants options so that's great, I do feel that the time that was put in by the then racing side of Woodhouse and SRT to create the "best" product is worth a little more to the Viper community. Sorry if this comes off the wrong way, no one is perfect and I can admit when I am wrong, just will not stand down when I feel strongly about something I know is a great product. And for what it's worth Dan still buys mounts from me... Thanks for listening to my rant.

I will say this...The majority of Viper owners have DEEP pockets, and most specialist shops are WELL AWARE OF THAT and have been known to take full advantage of the situation...I however do not have deep pockets and do all my own work, and save money where I can without sacrificing too much quality. That is all my point of the entire thread was.. Im just an average Joe who saved his pennies for a cool car.

I agree with everything you say..I am also a car nut..I also probably should have more carefully chosen my words, I didnt want to offend Woodhouse and probably should not have said "superior in design" in my original post...What I should have said was "similar in design"..I apologize for getting Mark's ******* all in a bunch..

.For me, the average Joe, the Polymounts are a SUPERIOR OPTION for me and my use..Im sure the Woodhouse ones are fine and very well engineered and tested on and off the track...For me however they were not the right option and Im happy with my decision. If i did run a dedicated track car, I certainly would not opt for a polyurethane mount anyway, I would opt for a CNC solid billet aluminum one, or a motor plate like I had in my camaro. The throttle feedback was nice and you could "feel" what the engine was doing a little better than any rubber or urethane mount. You felt a little more in tune with the car in my opinion..


On a side note, Steve E, based on your comment I think I know who might have tipped off Mark about this thread

Dajersey, no I said nothing to Mark, I really do not even know him, I knew Bob Woodhouse, Back in 1999 he was still there and he set me up good, made it possible to buy a Viper. And I don't see why Mark is mad, you really said nothing bad about the dealer, I agree with you, I like the polly mounts better, no offense to Mark and his mounts which I am sure are good. I want to stay on good terms with Woodhouse, you never know I might hit the lottery and want to buy a car from them, But like I said, I saved some money on a mount that I think is better. if they turn out not to be good its not the end of the world, I will try something else. As far as solid mounts go, I think that would be to much for me, I think suff would shake off my car. On a side note I do have a big mouth, but I would never start trouble over stupid stuff like this, well maybe, but not this time.

4. 8.0L wants to compensate for his balding with a "dragon" tat on his shoulder....(the Viper wasn't enough).
