Or, maybe they are enthusiasts who wanted to show their fellow enthusiasts what they have at the moment, and this was the best way to show off their baby before it is born, while changes are still possible.

You have it backwards. We members are doing the feeding, not Dodge. They are biting the hand(s) that feed them by not sharing the info. The car has been "unveiled" twice already, enough of the nonsense.
You make absolutely too much sense so off with you now......
Come on, I mean really. You know they already filed their patents for the shape of the car and did all of this, so they are protected from the intellectual property standpoint. This is all just smoke and mirrors crap that is not to protect them legally, but rather to garner interest.
Next, they will offer an "exclusive" look to a magazine, charge them money which they will gladly pay, and it will be the "best thing ever" as everyone rushes to the newstand.
In the article, they will pan the Gen IV owners, saying this and that are poor, like "The new interior provides a luxury interior with fine quality materials that have been lacking in previous models." And how about "As for the powerplant, there is no final word on the production model, but look for horsepower to be greater, in the 640 to 660 hp range, making the world sit up and take notice." As if the previous cars were a joke. How about "The fit and finish will be miles above the previous models that were originally made in a garage as Fiat has now taken ownership and will bring Ferrari quality standards to the model."
Typical Stuff. The truth is that the car is most likely not even close to done. They started late, were asking questions for months and we won't see it for some time.
The next Gen photos are awesome with an Italian flair but concepts rarely look like the real thing if and when it arrives. First year bugs are another issue.
You guys don't get it. This isn't about what's logical or real or fair or anything like that. I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir when I say that we have THE BEST relationship with the manufacturer of any car club in the world. We have unprecedented access to the inner workings of the SRT program. We have people like The Grailkeeper asking us owners "what needs to be fixed", etc. They don't HAVE to do any of that....people will buy the cars regardless like they do Porsches and other Euro cars. They share information with us and ask our opinions because they are AWESOME car people, and because they care about building the cars we want. Sure that makes good sense financially, but if you asked Ralph if it's about the money, I think he'd be genuinely insulted.
The best way to be completely shut out would be to violate the simple request that we not photograph the car. The business reasons are plenty but they don't matter....we should obey the request out of respect for the relationship.
Just my 0.02. Not trying to be confrontational or anything, just expressing my opinion, which may be hard to appreciate without being here and being a part of something "special". [/mushy]
If someone posted it, it would be their last post on this forum, and possibly as a VCA member. It would be a serious violation of trust, and potential legal action would follow, as we ALL signed NDAs when we checked in at the start of VOI.
Dodge is taking this very, very seriously. Posting a picture without approval would be not just biting the hand that feeds us, but biting it clean off.

Haha. Email me some pics and your Paypal account will soon be larger
Seeing the new prototype Viper early was probably the biggest perk in VOI history. A favor that Dodge, Ralph, Chris, Mary, etc. did for us attendees. Why anyone would be upset that these people bent over backwards to show the VOI attendees this is beyond me.
When Ralph said, "Please do not take any pictures, I'm asking for your respect." (I paraphrase) It was one of the most impressssssive things I have ever seen an executive do.
Trust and respect are something that is harder and harder to find these days. It is quite a statement that with all the cameras that all of us had in our hands, literally hundreds of them, not one picture is out there (yes, the presentation had several pictures of the car before we saw it in person which easily could have been photographed).
We should be very proud of all that attended who are respecting the request of a very impressive leader, one that no doubt is respected by Sergio enough to let his Division continue the Viper Legacy.
As for the Gen V car, I am sure many comments will be heading to Ralph, which is what he wants..... the good and the bad. All of those that did not take a particular liking ot the Gen III/IV car, you will like this one. To me it was more of a logical step to the Gen II legacy then something radical (as I personally viewed the Gen II to III change). It is the return of the curves and it once again has plan view curves as well. Is it my "perfect Viper"? No, but it is close enough that my list to Ralph will be a short one
Side note, the 470 hp 470 b-ft Challenger was equally impressive. It was also really neat to see many of the other new models... the Durango, Charger, Mini(man)van, and Avenger(?).
This VOI reminded me more of VOI.1, it was great. The VCA should be very proud of all that made it happen. There is no doubt in my mind that the mere fact it occurred had an impact on the Gen V car happening.

The average member has access to the "inner workings"? How? They will not even show a picture. VOI was a marketing event, among other things. They marketed a new vehicle they wish to sell to members who wish to buy. Without the buyers, there is no reason to make the vehicle. Until recently, they would not even say if they would make a replacement. Remember those days a few months ago?
I did not say anything about taking a picture on the sly would be acceptable. What I did comment on was that I did not see the reason for the secrecy, as they already protected (or should have) the intellectual property. Since they did that, there is no legal harm in showing it. Zero.
Everything should be above board. Open and honest. Are you implying that I did not want to be legit?
People will buy the cars without the information coming out from those in the know? Take a look at the sales figures. I would be willing to bet that a pretty fair amount of the recent purchases were by people on this board. Don't underestimate the members of the board and their purchasing power. I don't see Vipers flying off the shelves. You yourself bought one. Bet you are the only one in your neighborhood who has one.
It is great that Dodge asks the owners of the cars for their opinions. Ford does that for the Mustang crowd and Chevy for its products. It is smart to keep everyone up to date and the owners interested. It is not just a "Dodge" thing.
Not trying to pick a fight either. The deal is that the buying public on this board controls what goes on, pure and simple. Many members wanted to see the vehicle.
Why is that so bad? Why would anybody NOT want to see the vehicle? What "don't I get"?
BS, you better layoff the koolaid... It's not a good day to die...it amazez me how it seems 80 percent of you guys think it should look like the gen 11... i think the gen 11 is ugly, but differant..thats what makes the car kool... but would never own a gen11 cause its ugly oh boy here comes the strorm
