Gen V Wheels on a Gen III?

I'm the type of person who usually only likes stock wheels, but the the Gen V wheels in my opinion are absolutely beautiful. Has anyone installed Gen V wheels on a Gen III or IV? I'd love to see a picture.

I can't decide between the Sidewinder:

or the Venom:

I'm leaning towards the Venom in Hyper black. I think that's what's pictured above. My '04 is about the same shade of red as those in the pictures.

Any thoughts or opinions? Do any Photo Shop gurus want to put then on a a Gen III so I can see how they look?

thanks,
~Jay

I heard the rear is identical, however there appears to be an issue on the front (wheel is wider on Gen V). If anyone has first hand experience I'm interested in knowing as well.

Rears are identical. Fronts will stick out about half an inch further than normal Gen 3/4 wheels. But, it still looks good, as the factory 3/4 wheels tuck in a little too far anyways. Sidewinders are the ones to get, they are much lighter than the rest of the designs, since they are rotary forged barrels.

They do look nice. Prices are reasonable from the vendors. It might be a little hard to lower a viper with these and not hit the fender. That would be my only concern.

Thanks for the replies. Should I go with a slightly wider tire in the front?

Thanks also for that link, Demoe is a friend of mine, I'll have go see them in person, I didn't know he got them. They look awesome on his car!

Since my red Gen 3 convertible is such a clean and simple car, would the sidewinders look too aggressive?
Between the two, which is the bigger PITA to clean?

I believe Demoe went with 295 on front which would seem appropriate with the rim being wider. I think the Sidewinders are great and would only enhance your Gen3, however, for more contrast, go with the matte black, even though they would be harder to clean:headbang:

Thanks, that affirms my thoughts. I just ordered the Venom in Hyper Black from Jon B. Looking forward to my new wheels for the new year!

Next question, do I sell the original rims, or keep them and put track tires on them for auto-X and track days?

the gen 5 wheels work beautifully on a gen 3. I would say if nothing done to them they stick out a 1/4 inch at the most. I have NO clearance issues at all. Two solutions if you don't like is to have fronts milled down .025 on the mounting surface or jon b at parts Rack makes a .025 spacer for the rears... hope this helps

yes they are, I am very happy with them. And don't get worried about the fronts, once you have them on you don't even notice the off set difference unless you really study them. To walk by the car you would not see them.

I was thinking the same, I'd like to see the side offset shot as well. The venom's look awesome. But I love the lightweight of the Sidewinder II's

Here are some iPhone pictures, I'll try to take some pictures with a real camera this weekend.

Eddie's guys at R&S automotive in Santa Clarita did a great job on the install. One little detail that I've never seen before is that they uses black balancing weights. I'll try to take a picture of that later.

Closeup of the chrome/aluminum center cap on a Hyper Black wheel. Sorry it's blurry, I'll try to take a batter one later:

They are fine, I've had no issues whatsoever. Venon polished with hyperblack ( really dark grey metallic)
