Has anyone ripped out all the AC components on a Gen1? Can it be done easily? When shopping for the car I just had to have it but 2 1/2 years later I have never used it. The car doesn't have a roof!

I know you are "OutThere", but where are you actually? I may be interested in the AC system if operational and intact.

I am in Iowa. It works fine, I just never use it and I would like the room and to lose the weight.

If I can figure out how to get it out it'll be for sale and you'll get the first offer.

All you need to remove is the lines, compressor, radiator, evaporator, and the heater box in the engine compartment. Vipermed installed my A/C kit, he may have more to add.

I've done it. The hard thing is to get the aluminum lines out without bending them...but it can be done. As said before, a new belt is needed.

You have to open the heater box and remove the filter inside. I know since when we installed the kit, the non A/C heater box and the new A/C heater box were identical. I even returned it since it was the same. I did forget about the new belt though.
