Ok...

What were the changes from gen1 to gen2 for the 50hp increase? from what i've been able to tell, it was revised heads w/ better cooling, larger TB's (intake now has 1 linkage instead of 2) and exhaust manifold redesign.

that's it right? Pistons, stroke and internals stayed the same?

The reason i'm asking is that I'm about to buy a gen2 block, heads, pistons and rods for a project motor. I was thinking of swapping the gen2 heads onto my gen1 motor and swapping out the original intake for a gen2 version (it will clear apparently). The reason behind it is that I want simmilar gains in mods as the gen2 cars

MadMaxx,
Your car with rear exhaust is rated at 415 HP, so the increase to GenII is 35 HP. Your analysis about heads and flow are right on, but you said: "....internals stayed the same?" , well not really. Go to the site below, and near the bottom of the page you will see the Cam specs. Big improvement from GenI to GenII cams, lift, overlap, duration, in producing more flow; more power.

Hey MadMaxx,
From what I remember, the Gen II heads will NOT bolt on to the Gen I block. But the best thing to do is ask one of the tuners like Dan Cragin or Bill at Apex.

The GenII engines do not have "cylinder sleeves" like the GenI's. I believe that means shifted sleeves only occur on GenI engines. That is a big + I think.
