Gen3 brakes on a Gen1

SO I was thinking about using a set of Gen3 calipers on my Gen1... BUT I want to retain my stock 3spoke tomahawk wheels,,, anyone do this? Is there bracket kit that will allow it to be done? Or perhaps using a set of Gen1 front calipers on the rear??? Thanks in advance

Absolutely no way as the Gen 3 rotors are too large in diameter...

you are going to need longer wheel studs, and hubcentric spacers to clear yor factory rims. i have same set up on my 02 gts. had mark at ipsco make the spacers, and another shop installed longer studs.

It works with your car as you have 18" wheels. As I said previously, Gen 1 cars have 17's. Not enough room.

May have to try that, maybe slotted front sized rotors and calipers on all 4 corners with a good pad compound. Also heard the gen 2 brake booster is supposed to give a better feel.

The other thing I forgot to add here in this post , is the fact you cannot use stock rear rotors with brembo calipers as they are to small diameter wise and too thin.

You'll need a very good quality manual brake proportioning valve. The rears will lock up when you even barely touch the brake pedal.

Hold on, is there an option to have gen 3 breaks fit on a gen 1? i have gen 3 rims on my gen 1 already so the clearance is there but i was under the impression there was no real BBK for the gen 1 unless you went to a true stoptec, brembo, etc...

Yes, there is a conversion kit to make it happen. Talk to the John that's banned from this site.
