I believe it was also published in Viper Magazine.

At 340-350 cfm (stated by the guys at Arrow at VOI,) G4 outflowed any head tested. They 'forced' Jeff at Striker to go back to his drawing board and IMPROVE his Striker heads as a result! Watch for some results from JM-Jeff soon......

My two cents - Flow numbers are like chassis dyno numbers - make sure you are comparing apples to apples. If you get the numbers from the same bench at the same inlet depression with the same inlet/outlet configurations then fine, go ahead and compare. Otherwise forget it. Besides, it's not always just about peak flow. Velocities in the port and through the seat mean a lot for cylinder filling and torque/power. All too often porters go for the big numbers and end up losing power and torque because of low velocity and the car is slower. Same holds true for intake manifolds. Be very careful changing any cross sections with the Gen IV ports or manifolds.

the GEN4 outflows a Striker head, and thats with zero port work to the stocker! Greg Good, could work some magic on a stock Gen4 with just a simple full radius valve job and bowl cleanup. as soon as i find a set of Gen4's they will go on my 04, no doubt.
plus, i am working on Gen4 billet valve covers right now!

Jon B etc: any chance the Gen III.5s are a ton cheaper than Strykers? I am assuming you could use them on a Gen II.

Yeah, the '08's are indeed very good heads, and the best of the factory castings, no doubt about it. The intake manifold, exhaust flanges, and rocker covers are unique to them. Nothing from previous generations crosses over. That makes it a labor of love to install them on a previous car.

I have flow numbers at the shop for stock Gen 4 heads, and after porting. They flow really well stock. They should...Chapman Racing did the development work on them. On the intake ports, they're real close to the Street Striker head, but won't touch the Race Striker. It's not fair to compare the Street Striker head to a Gen 4 head, because the Street Striker has a 2.040" valve, the Gen 4 has at least a 2.080". The exhaust ports are a about even, and get better with some porting.

Also, Jesel nor T&D make rockers for the Gen 4 yet, that I know of. That's something to think about.

I'll dig out the flow numbers I got from my bench tomorrow.

Edit: We have to see how the Gen 4 heads *prove out*. There is more to all this stuff than flowbench numbers. The Gen 4's intake ports have sharp radii in the corners. That's kind of old school IMO. Oval ports, and ports with large radii in the corners, have less surface area to cross section ratio, and all other things being equal, run faster at the track. If you ever get to take a look at a Pro Stock head you'll see what I'm talking about. They're either oval shaped, or have huge radii and are damn near an oval. That's the shape that runs. I'm not sure why Dodge went with a sharp cornered intake port on the Gen 4.

Good info. Jeffs Striker "race heads" wont fit the genIII intake with out work though according to him? Greg do you know what work is needed to adapt the intake to it?
