My mother always said my wingy thingy would fall off if I played with it. :omg:

Being a vert owner I would say a hard top is preferable for all speed related items. But I love to drive with the top down. looks? subjective.

Adding Weight = Slower ET. You are NOT removing the soft top, so the added weight is there. I suspect the improved aerodynamics of the hard top offsets the +45 lbs.

Has the ACR wingy thingy "fallen off" ?!?!? YES!

If you're a convertible guy, you're a convertible guy, that's all there is to it. Buy what you like best.
That said, I have a vert that I take to track days all the time. Sometimes I use the AP Engineering hardtop, sometimes I run it fully open, it's a blast with the top down and you have better visibility and hear the tires more. In hard numbers the Coupe may have a slight edge in all out instrumented testing, but short of that it's going to come down to driver ability anyway.
If competition is your thing, buy the ACR or Comp Coupe.

Ummmm - fastest 1/4 mile to date in any bone stock Viper was by Jamie Furman in his '08 Vert...so much for the "improved aerodynamics offsetting the 45 LB weight difference" theory. He actually never got his '08 coupe as fast in the 1/4 either.

You mean his ACR with only the rear spoiler removed? Didn't he leave the splitter and canards on for that run?

I would say that both cars are equal in their quarter mile times. Top end will go to the coupe due to it being cleaner through the air.
While looks are subjective I find I like the look of the coupes but I LOVE DRIVING WITH THE TOP DOWN!
I would have to say the coupes cost more due to the fact that they have more body material than a convertable?

convertibles are chick cars... sorry guys:) the coupe is more $$$ b/c they hold their value better... also in order to safely and legally (sometimes) track a vert you'll need a rollbar (thousands $$$)...

Does the coupe actually have a real rollbar or just a thin plastic roof that replaces the softop with a little sheetmetal to hold it in place?

I think coupes are more expensive because up until recently they were a lot less common. Seems recently the coupe prices have dropped to closer to the vert prices, not on par, but definitely closer than than before.

But then again, that's only what I think.:dunno:




After owning a convertible, if it's not nice enough to drive with the top down, I don't even want to drive it.:cool:

Yea....The coupe defiently has a prescence...But a slammed vert also looks extremely nice...

As well..In most cars the convertable option is more expensive..

If the srt10 was a coupe from 2003-2005 and then the vert hit the floors in 2006 most would sing a differant tune..

Imagine if they mmade a Z06 vert next year????? People would go crazy buying it...

Top down in a srt10 is an amazing experiance here in hawaii
