Got this off the Vette Website. This is a fast machine.
Z06 Performance Data ... GM's testing reveals

After much speculation, debate, and hearsay .... we finally have something definative from GM

Heres what I learned today regarding recent testing at track ...

GM's drivers, running car both at Millford & the Ring have obtained these results:

0-60 MPH .... 3.6 seconds
1/4 mile in 11.5 seconds @ 128 Trap speed

Lat. G force .... won't say just yet
70-0 MPH braking ... won't tell yet

Also ... GM now writes car will have 'Forged' Pistons ....

Also ... hood scoop is not currently functional ... but, later with production series ... it will be

Also ... all engines will be 'hot dynoed' --- and hopefully owners will get copy of dyno test of their engine upon purchase if they request it

Also ... powertrain is mainly built by GM ... with several exceptions like tranny, etc.

Its the Porsche Turbo they are looking to kill with this car. Yes, the Ford GT was important to GM --- but since production of it was so limited --- they didn't specifically target that car. And the Viper ... they feel the new vette can take care of it also.

AND PRICE ..... could tell you ... but, no one would believe me ... so I won't even go there.

Seriously, it hasn't been set yet ... but, lets just say they are starting to think of an average # between the low and high $$$ floating around in the press/forums.

Dreamin' That is what someone is doing. 128 mph in the 1/4 with 500 hp. Yep, I sure do believe that.

If it looks like horse manure, smells like horse manure and has passed the horse manure taste test on the vette site, it MUST be horse manure!

Sounds promising! Wait till the mags do their tests. If its really that good, I'd buy one.

But didn't GM falsely advertise the previous ZO6 as having a 4 second to 60 time that hardly anyone could acheive?

One of the big mags...forget which one got 4.1 seconds to 60 with the Z51 package on the C6...and I forget how low into the 12's for the 1/4...
Can an extra 100 horse and meaty tires pull off a 3.6 to 60?

You have to be a very good driver to hit GM's specs....agreed.

128 in the quarter? No way, not with only 500 horsepower anyway. I still say my ACR's horsepower, torque and vehicle curb weight match up nicely against the new Z. Bring it on...

Careful Christian. Anybody can drive a Vette but it takes skill to drive a Viper.

Maybe around a corner but not in a strait line(only skill needed is shifting the stock POS shifter).

What horse is needed to do the claimed trap speed?

Without the juice I make 565 hp / 605 TQ at the wheels, so that should be just over 600 hp at the engine, and I trap 127-129 mph. It is either making more horsepower or its a ringer. It is about 300 lbs lighter than a Viper, but I don't think that is enough to make up 100 hp and lots more torque difference. I guess we will have to wait and see what happens,

Yea, those pieces of pure junk supras are hard to shift. Vipers blow those POS cars off the road.

Matter of fact I got a video of me blowing the doors off a warmed over supra POS at Ennis dragstrip.

Shut up and keep you pansy ass comments to yourself putz.

I hear you Chuck. Then again, I owned the previous Z-06 and now my ACR. Sure, they're different. Trust me though; I can drive 'em both.

565RWHP is over 650HP at the crank. :2tu:

I make just a bit less power (546RWHP/607RWTQ) and my best trap speed is 127MPH.

In fact I can't think of any car that traps at 128MPH with less than 600HP (crank) :D
The Ford GT has trapped at 131MPH, but it is very underrated and actually has between 625-670HP (crank)
And without a supercharger, I really doubt that the C6 Corvette will have over 520HP (crank).

I think that the C6 Z06 should run somewhere around 11.7@124MPH, maybe 125MPH if it's underrated. ;)

There is no way dealers are going to add a mere 3K to the sticker, more like 10 or 15K. Factor in sales tax and it's going to cost you 85K or more out the door. It had better have those kind of numbers.

I'm sure. It wasn't a slam on you. I just can't resist bashing a Vette at any chance. LOL

Hey,
don't forget, there's a dealer in Maryland who will sell you a Z06 at or below sticker.

The Z06 will be fast, period. I will respect it as an AMERICAN MADE performance car. :usa: However, it's still a vette. If that's your thing, go get one, this is America after all. The Viper suites me perfectly. Exactly what I wanted and I look forward to the day when I buy a second one.

Besides, the Z06, as discussed on this board previously, will come with all the mods done. Where's the fun in that? I personally like individualizing my car based on what I want it to do, how I want it to sound and the way I want it to look.

It will be fast and American which is great. Different than the Viper for sure. For the crowd who wants one, go for it. I personally won't be buying one. :usa: :usa: :usa:

Motor Trend does not have imformation correct on the 2005 Saleen S7 it is $555,000 and has a twin turbo with 750 bhp from the factory, with a top speed of 232mph. The 2004 version ran a 10.8 with 575bhp. I wonder what the new specs in the quater mile are..... the car weighs 2750 lbs.

This reminds me of a little story my grandfather told me a while back:

An Indian cheif is approached by a western business man wanting to buy his land. The Chief invites the man to join him in his tee *** along with some others from the tribe. As the business man is explaining the terms of his deal the indian chief keeps repeating hoya hoya, hoya hoya untill the man was finished. As the indian chief was walking out of the teepee he grabs one of the other indians by the arm and stops him, points to the ground and says watch out for the hoya hoya (horse sh**)

Hmm I used to work at GMs Milford Proving Grounds..I'll have to call someone and see what they know about the Z06.

Doug Levin's online trap speed = ?hp calculator says a 3400lbs car and driver would need 550rwhp for 128.

While you're keeping an eye in your rear view mirrors for the Z06, watch out for VW's new Ubercar the Bugatti Veyron.

It's got 1001 horsepower (factory technicians can adjust to 1280hp if an owner wants more), and has been engineered to go 0-186 mph in 14 seconds with its' V12 8 litre quad turbo engine. (Motor Trend April 05 pg 18)

My old Z06 ran a 10.9 @ 132 (SW was the driver ;) ) on motor. It only had 509rwhp and 488rwtq. Just for comparison sake ...

A Supra Getrag with the stock shifter is night and day ahead of a Viper T56 with the stock shifter. How do i know? I have owned both. Guilly, you want to help me out here?

My guess would be, that wasn't on Stock Tires though.

The new ZO6 ain't running 128mph!

If he ran 132 with 509 rwhp, then a new ZO6 could see 128 if it has around 470 at the wheels(seems like most LS cars run about 30-40 less at the wheels then there ratings). I dont think a 127-128 is out of reach in excellent weather conditions. Also, the tires wont effect the trap speed much. In fact, cars normally run faster traps on street tires then slicks..

I think that really depends on what type of power you are putting down.
For example,I can't imagine Chad's Heffner TT running faster than 169mph on street tires!
