starting on page 14 of the current (Summer 2008) Viper Magazine. A lot of the points on track prep are also applicable to other Gen III/IV cars.

To my great joy my issue landed on the door mat today as well!
Very interesting ACR article indeed as well as some others including the e-mail corner, Bob Carroll's article about the Viper's future (if you read this, please reply to my e-mail when you have time?) and parting shots.

Good article...

What got my attention was the recommendation of installing a differential cooler if doing more than 20 minute sessions with one cool down lap and 30 minutes between sessions. While that has been typical for my limited track experience, I once went to a PDA event where we had up to one hour per session.

Anyone install a diff cooler on their SRT?

This (along with recommended shock settings and ride heights) is also stated in the ACR Owner's Manual.

Do racers with older models install diff coolers? Is it necissary if you use good synthetic fluid? Actually, thats another thing I've been wondering, what sort of fluids does Dodge put in Vipers? Should I plan on draining and refilling everything when I get the car?

The one thing I did on my 2008 convertible is use the Motul RBF 600 race brake fluid which is the factory fill on the competition coupe.

Grant,

Yes, good article.

"Do racers with older models install diff coolers?" Many do.

"Is it necessary if you use good synthetic fluid?" Hasn't been yet but I do change the synthetic fluid regularly.

Actually, thats another thing I've been wondering, what sort of fluids does Dodge put in Vipers? Most factory fluids are good, but not designed for racing IMHO. Brake and clutch fluid come immediately to mine. Diff fluid can be improved too (call Unitrax). Trans fluid seems to be OK but some racers install trans coolers too.

Should I plan on draining and refilling everything when I get the car? Depends on how hard and long you drive it. If you plan to track it in the summer heat, yes.
