I am no longer a miserable, low-life wannabe.
Picked up my 1999 Black/Cognac RT/10 today in Sarasota, FL and drove it to Miami in 3.5 hours.
Before you ask, here you go:

First off, I want to thank Chuck Tator and Steve-Indy for providing advanced information about the car I bought. It was extremely helpful.
I also want to thank Cudaman and MES for offering help while I was in town, even though I didn't (couldn't, actually - time restraints) take it.
First impressions:
- Ride quality
Expected: Go-cart level of comfort
Actual: I don't know which milquetoast geriatric half-sissies complain about the ride of these cars, but it's REALLY not bad at all. Sure, it's stiffer than a Caddy, but so what?
- Cabin noise
Expected: Inside a tornado
Actual: Again, not bad at all. Can have conversations at normal levels, and music doesn't have to be cranked to hear it. Though the stock speakers lasted exactly 7 hours. Went to Best Buy and swaped them out for 220W Pioneers. Ahhhh... MUCH better.
- Cabin heat
Expected: Sahara
Actual: AGAIN, not bad at all, and this is late July in South Florida. Not exactly the coolest spot on Earth. And the A/C works like a champ. Again, I don't understand the complaints.
- Gas mileage
Expected: Awful
Actual: Suspicions confirmed. How you guys get 20+ MPG I don't know, unless you went downhill the entire way with a tailwind.
- Performance
Expected: Awesome
Actual: Expectations met, and then some. Turning a 90º corner at 40 with no tire squeal is quite fun. Drove it through torrential downpours, and as long as you don't go nuts (i.e. keep it at the speed limit) it handles water just fine. And I speak from experience. If you haven't seen a thunderstorm in Florida, you haven't seen a thunderstorm. Lost the backend in the rain, but the car corrected itself IMMEDIATELY. And it was kinda fun, to boot
My friend is on the way over to see the car, so I have to keep this short. But thanks to all who helped and thanks to all of you for providing so much information over the last 15 months, both directly and indirectly, on these cars. It was truly invaluable.
Now who do I tak to about changing Enthusiast to Owner? Vipermad, is that you?
UNRATLD
