without a doubt this was one of the most memorable times i've had owning my sports cars. being a car nut all my life and getting to see my son experience driving the viper at such a early age was priceless. he just got his learners permit in july so i wanted him to get some road time before i surprized him with the offer of driving the snake. funny thing was he never expected it, never asked and never hounded me to drive it. he needed a ride to his girlfriends house which i normally let him drive the family car, his moms cad or the durango which i use for work, when i said ok but lets take the viper, he looked over at me and said but he wanted to drive. thinking if we took the viper he would be the passenger. when i handed the keys to him, he thought i was joking but realized this was for real, the look on his face was unbeliveable. he had the time of his life and it was one of those times i will always remember having with him. only problem now he's always asking to drive it, lol. by the way he did great and couldn't believe how much power it had, the brakes and handling. my 10 year old daughter is still fine with just a ride but my 5 year old son made me let him steer it around the neighborhood now that was interesting, lol, i videoed him driving it and now instead of watching nickalodian its him driving the viper. oh by the way no the wife has not driven it, just the the men in the family, lol. hope all are having as much fun with your vipers as i am. :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

Awesome man :D Especially since I'm living on a not-seeing-Vipers-at-all diet here in The Netherlands :( :( :(

Wow, that's awesome Tom. I thought he didn't like the Viper? You'll have to bring him to some VCA events now!

I had a similar experience. I walked into a store that sells outdoor gear that I shop at a lot. I know the guys that work there, (not by name, but recognize them from past shopping trips.)

I parked the Viper right out front, and they noticed it, and began talking. One of them jokingly asked if he could drive it. I'm not sure what came over me, but I said "sure" and tossed him the key ring. He was stunned, couldn't believe I was serious. I told him "I'll be shopping for about 20 minutes, have it back by then, and just make sure you've got the steering wheel straight if you're going to get on the throttle." Then, I went about my shopping. He brought the car back exactly 20 minutes later, with a huge grin on his face. I thought he was going to explode with excitement.

It was pretty cool to be able to make someone so happy with such a little thing. What was even cooler is that one of his co-workers told me that the guy had just been diagnosed with cancer two days earlier. You can do things with a Viper that you just can't do in an ordinary car.

I let one of my nephews drive mine (me in the car) and he proceeded to beat the crap out of it. Where do kids get this kind of nerve? Never again. Maybe my nephews (5) are spoiled, since my brother and I have had nothing but hot cars since the 60s.

My nephews are all too young, but I did take the 14 yr old to watch the UM football game this Saturday and drove the Viper... He was floored by it, and I heard all about it from his mother the next day. I guess he has something very cool to talk about today on his 1st day back to school - what a car!

My wife taught my son to drive a stick in the GTS at age 15. I was upstairs doing some work when she said she yelled up to tell me she was taking him out to learn on a stick. I yelled back, "Okay!" After the door to the house closed it dawned on me that we only had ONE manual transmission car. Too late, the car rumbled out of the garage and was gone. Since then my son (now 17) has driven both the GTS and the SRT a few times with no problems. And never alone, of course! ;)

Some of you guys are crazy! I respect EVERYONEs car, not just my own, but some of my friends will beat on anything. My friend once bragged about off roading on his friends Honda CBR F4i and 'scraping it on a curb'. Funny, I rode his bike, but he'll never drive my M3.

Props to those of you cool enough to let others drive your vehicles...wanna come to Rochester? :)
