There have been several posts over the years which relates to the exhaust noise in the cabin of the GTS body style. This problem can be somewhat alleviated or exacerbated with aftermarket exhaust setups. I am in the process of "quieting" the cabin my GTS with the help of an accoustical engineer. The areas we are focusing on include better isolation of the exhaust hanger bolts (different from the brackets), matting in the trunk area, and insulating the gas tank. The goal is not to silence the cabin, just reduce it to a pleasant level so that we can enjoying cruising and still talk to our passengers without having to yell.

If there is enough interest, I'd be happy to put together kit which would include complete instructions and parts. Please let me know in the forums or email your thoughts.

This is copy of my repsonse to Ron. He asked good questions that I thought I should post to the group:

I'm just a car guy, not a dealer or parts guy or anything. The AE is my retired father-in-law who has way too much time on his hands. The cost would most likely be just the parts and shipping. You or someone you trust would have to do the labor. We have most of the sound equipment to do the research. We don't
think we're talking major bucks here, but I'll keep you posted.

I added "low-back" corkscrew inserts to my Snake-Oyl exhaust(no muffler) and dynamat on the entire rear section - did absolute wonders. It went from a beehive beneath the seat to being able to listen to the stereo at loud rather than concert levels

Todd, I too have the Snakoyl, please elaborate on "corkscrew inserts". Also lleone, I would be interested in your kit.

Hi Todd, good tip. How heavy is the dynamat? Some of the other sound block materials we've can weigh several pounds per square foot. One of the goals is not adding significant weight.

Lou
PS: Thanks again for the great deal on the PCM.
