Ok, I took out the screws around the neck and now I need to know how to separate the fuel hose from the door. I didn’t want to yank on it and pull the hose out of the tank.

Thanks

As far as I can remember - 6/7 years ago - you will have to pull (and turn) to separate from the hose (hold it) quite a bit!

If referring to separating the hose itself from the metal bracket, I sprayed a little WD40 about the edge of the hose, grabbed the bracket and pushed the hose through using my thumbs. Using a little WD40 on the hose helps slip it back in to place too. It can be a challenge to get a good grip of both the hose and bracket at the same time to slip it back into place...at least it was for me.

If just separating the bracket itself from the car, there is a form gasket that will likely stick, so just twist and pull. You will likely need to replace the gasket if it tears like mine did. The Dodge replacement gasket that I bought didn't fit correctly, so I had to modify it a bit to fit correctly.

It looked like the hose has a lip holding it secure to the door but it sounds like the hose only looks like it has a lip and I will try to push it down with my thumbs and pull out with a twist. :)

Twist and pull to remove.

Getting it back on is trickier. Secret is the small hole on the top side of the filler neck tube. Use a stout wire with a hook on the end (BBQ skewer works great), poke hook through hole so you can hold up the tube when you twist and push the thing back on.

Oh yeah, and use a flashlight not a match to illuminate the tube when locating the hole! :smirk:
