So....last sunday I was able to attend the 17th annual Glenmoor Gathers of Significant Automobiles. The VCA had a great showing with 11 Vipers on hand with three Vipers from WPC museum in addition to the 11 from the VCA. Roy "Father Viper" Sjoberg was even on hand with his car. However, the one piece that was the most interesting to me was the #91 GTS-R. To me, one of the best Vipers ever built. Just incredible to see that car there and still all dirty from the last race it had run.

But the real treat had for me had come at the end of the day when my wife and I were about to head out from the show. I told my wife I want to take one last look at the Vipers before we headed out and as we strolled by the GTS-R to my surprise they had removed the hood to show off the engine. :omg: May not be a big deal to some but again for me the GTS-R is just such a bad asp car that I was like a kid in a candy store and had to shoot a couple of pics.

I've seen this car at the Chrysler Museum a couple times. The GTS-R is and always will be one of the best Vipers built, IMO. The #91 is prob the most iconic of any of them. I have a rear bumper from one of the white/blue GT2 cars (the street version of the GTS-R) hanging in my garage! 1 of, if not the favorite piece of all my Viper memorabilia.

so, for how many years it has been dirty ?
never washed??

nice pics and ur lucky to see it in person

Never washed since the last race it had run. At least 10 years. It came off the track. Headed for the museum and they were told DO NOT CLEAN IT. They wanted it to be displayed in as raced condition.

My nose is beginning to look a bit like that one ;) I really want those extra front lights in the nose with the covers on. Trouble is looking at the standard front fascia to fit the lights would mean the removal of the glass fibre front bumper re-enforcing and a few other modifications.

Its also interesting to see how much lower the engine sits in the frame, enabling the x brace to be fitted. I guess that was another reason for the dry sump.

Funny you say that. My car was part of that display, the green gen1 just 5 cars down. As soon they got me parked my immediate reaction was to head straight towards this car and read the sign. As I was reading the sign, the guy with the walkie who parked me said he mentioned to the guy from the museum it was dirty... that guy politely told him they had fired someone for trying to wash it at the museum.
I guess it's not funny he got fired but funny you mentioned that after I just heard that story. :)

I should. They were taken with my little 10 mega pixel camera. If you want copies I can e-mail them to you.

Yes sir 'e Bob, you sure did! I wanted to put a few faces with names and apparently missed the chance with you... who knows, could have walked right by you several times that day. I did however get to meet John Wojnar - Great Guy.
I did also get a pic shaking hands with "Father Viper" by my car that day... very excited about that. I'll post it soon.

Ahhh :dunce: If only I was that smart!
I did get a personalized poster from him though. That should move me up in the ranks from "dunce" to "*****" don't ya think?

Awesome. I really wish I could have made it this year. John W. puts a lot of effort into the show.

Fatboy. My wife and I realy enjoyed our 3 week visit to Great Brittian in June. May I suggest an autoform nose like my car. You can get it with the splitter that reaches all the way back under the engine without the extra lights (Daytona version) or the Lemans version with the extra lights. Also you can elect to go with or without air ducts that lead to the front brakes from the 3rd low fascia opening. I am without. I also try to keep to the looks of the Lemans winning cars.(OK Daytona) Yes they have the light set up wiring etc for the whole Lemans set up too. GTS Bruce
