6 years ago did I start a project with the intention to build a Dodge Viper for in my opinion one of the most challenging Drag Racing classes, Super Stock Eliminator (NHRA).
The GTS was bought from a Microsoft Executive and taken to Phil Mandella (PMR Race Cars) to be transformed to a Super Stocker.
I asked Kevin at EED if were willing to build the engine, he agreed.
The chassie build took about a year, 6 months in California and the remaining 6 months here in Sweden.
The engine was way more challenging the Kevin expected it to be. The goal was set to increase the horsespower with 100% and still follow the strict regulations in Super Stock. (Free intake and camshaft only. Stock Valve size, stock runner volumes, stock compression, stock trottlebodies etc) After a LOT of work, numerous dyno runs, camshaft swaps, oil starvation problems etc did Kevin finally reach our goals. I'ts a top notch build!
The engine is now sitting in the Super Stock Chassi and we are right now only waiting for the midplate and a custom made set of headers from American Racing Headers to be made.
This will as far as we know be the first Viper in the NHRA Super Stock class.
Our race season starts in May here in Sweden, so we have pleny of time to solve remaining problems.
When the car is sorted out do we plan to ship it to US and attend some of the NHRA races.
